Is it OK to hit the same muscle group back to back days?

Thinking about lifting heavy the first day then going lighter volume work on the second day.

Thoughts?

If you are truly lifting heavy on day 1 it wouldn't be ideal to hit that muscle group immediately again without allowing some recovery.

No, that's not a good idea. why would you "go lighter" the next day instead of just adding more volume to the training day?

Recovery is as important as the workout

No.

It prevents hypertrophy.

No, because if you’re lifting heavy and you do it right, you won’t be able to work the same muscle group the next day, even light weight will hurt

If you're thinking about it, you're probably going to do it anyway. Let us know your results.

I've heard some people doing these every so often to shock the muscle so to speak. Probably not good to do frequently.
