2 around me are doing it. My SIL is in admin at a Houston area school district that’s doing it.

Could suck, could be worthwhile. My main complaint is getting Friday childcare for two working or (single) parents.

I’m not a socialist euro trash that doesn’t think we should work hard and have 4 day work weeks but a lot of school is a giant waste of time where our kids are sitting in a room where teachers are spending their time teaching to the lowest common denominator (not that the LCD isn’t valuable and worthy of extra attention.). We shadowed our son’s school day once and he was in instruction for maybe an hour and a half of an 8 hour day. The rest of it was piddly crap and the teacher dealing with other students struggling with concepts. We pulled them and homeschooled.

Let’s get real, your profession doesn’t mean shite about working. Being a plant operator and sitting on your fat arse watching Netflix all day doesn’t mean you work year round just because you’re at work.

4 10's are great for adults. My fear is that the last 2-3 hours are going to wasted with kids. Of course the teachers are more concerned with their 3-day weekend than whether or not their students can read or do math.

Half the people bitching about teachers time off don't work any more then they do.

being at work doesn't mean you're working.

Go to a 4 day week and cut the teacher's pay 20%.

Jealous of shift work? Listen just because you chose your career poorly doesn’t mean I give a shite about your opinion of my business.

Kids looking forward to the weekend? With 4 school days, they'd just be doing that on Thursday instead of Friday. Kids, particularly at the elementary level, just don't have the attention spans for 10 hour days.

Our companys crafts people will be having a vote to go to a 4 day work week. I'm hoping they let us work 4 days a week too.

And you're probably one of the first people to bitch about the increasing cost of childcare.

Exactly. So a net neutral.

Do they have the endurance for 5-day weeks? Think about the productivity of many workplaces on a Friday. People are pooped out/checked out. Students are the same way.
