Me too. Especially after I three putted the last hole.

Still, 10 minutes a hole is a lot of time. You can use the rangefinder, check the wind, improve your lie, foot wedge if necessary, etc. in a very short period of time.

hey are always the slowest and most entitled groups out there, and in general a pain in the arse to deal with.

The “golfers” that play the slowest most of the time are the under 35, ice chest of beer, music blaring, never ready to hit when it’s their turn guys. See this all the time. You’re not on the tour junior, pull a club, hit your shot, and get moving.

If you’re in a cart, a foursome should finish 18 holes in under 2.5 hours.
thats the dumbest shite ive heard on this site. Its roughly 4 hours to play a round of golf. Unless you play in a wide open golf course, then its about 3.5. 2.5 hours is a two some playing sub 10 handicap golf in a cart with no one holding you up the entire round

You’re right, you aren’t being an a-hole

You’d have to actually know what you’re talking about to be an a-hole in this situation

I play 3-4 times per week. With players of all different skill levels. I’m really good at understanding hours, minutes, and seconds.

A round of golf shouldn’t take all day.

Pros take 4 hours and they’re walking and have millions of dollars on the line. You and your buddies in carts shouldn’t take four fricking hours

You said a foursome should play a round of golf in 2.5 hours, so no, you have a terrible understanding of hours, minutes, and seconds

For two people to play a round in 2.5 hours in a cart they would have to play fast. No foursome is playing a round of golf anywhere close to that quick, and the fact that you keep arguing this is moronic

And since you’ve changed the argument to a foursome playing in 3 hours you’re still wrong. 4 people aren’t playing every hole in 10 minutes or less

I played Beaver two weeks ago. We had two foursomes different tees as we had ladies to tips playing. First group went off at 6:45. We were the back group. Walked off 18 at 9:28. It was glorious.

I’m good with anything under four hours. But I think three is a great pace.

anyone is taking 3+ hours to play 18 holes with a cart, maybe they should think about picking up the pace a bit.

If a foursome can't finish in 3 hours with nobody in front they are the problem. People lolly gag way too much.

The USGA suggests 14 minutes per hole for a foursome for as total time of over 4 hours. Cutting an hour off of that is not lolly gagging and expecting people to do so is ridiculous.

I'm sure many people have the ability to play 18 holes in three hours but it isn't enjoyable for most players.

I’m sure it was a blast with y’all speed walking off every green and seeing who could get back to the cart the fastest after every shot

A study was just conducted by the usga. Non peak times pace was 4 hours. Peak times was 4.5 hours. Par 3 averaged 13 minutes. Par 4 averaged 15 and par 5 averaged 17.

Ultimately, all you can do is keep up with the group in front of you.

What happens at our club is you are a foursome with a twosome in front and behind you. We usually allow the 2 behind to play through at first par 3.

It’s sort of a law that you will almost always be behind the slowest players on the course, and in front of the fastest group.

I can’t be the only person here who thinks these times are ridiculous, right?

During peak times I can see it. Public courses are going to 7-8 minute tee time intervals to maximize profits during these times. We still try to keep it under 4 hours 15 minutes.

Another HUGE reason I went private. 5+ hour rounds aren’t uncommon at my club but it often involves hanging out, drinking beers, taking shots and letting other groups play through.

I’d say 4 hours is pretty avg for a fourseome during peak times unless you just run into a group of kids who don’t know any better or old women who don’t care

That’s where the course should step in and make them pick up the pace or move out of the way.

To the folks in this thread that think I’m nuts, I realize that a round of golf may take 3-4 hours to play. For you, does it take that long because you’re being held up or is that your natural and enjoyable pace?

My natural and enjoyable pace, with a foursome, is sub 3 hours. There is no “running back to the cart” involved. I think about every shot, take penalty strokes, putt everything out, etc.
