The fleur de lis design and "Cajun" associated with LSU is always funny. LSU and the state government actively persecuted Acadians for decades.

The fleur de lis is not Cajun. It’s French. You know who else was French? King Louis - the same King Louis that the entire state is named after.

The French were here in 1682. The Acadians were kicked out and came here in 1755.

Honest question because I am uninformed: how and why were the Acadians “persecuted”? Somebody wanted them to pay taxes? Local hunters tried to run them off?

This part is actually true. Cajuns are a protected nationality due to a court case because of persecution.
