This story came out prior to us winning the CWS and I was wondering if Sully was going to return the favor. I actually was hoping Jay would be asked the question because I'm curious if Sully did write a letter to congratulate Jay like Paul did to Sully.

Auggie is bad arse. Dude rivals Skip for one of the best ever.
I think if you look at Skip and Auggie, you have some commonalities. Both are fierce competitors without being complete jerks toward their opponents. Always willing to give a compliment when deserved and always trying to both teach and learn.
If there was a Mount Rushmore of college baseball coaches, both would be on it. And I think we might have another guy in that mold with Jay Johnson.

Augie's handwriting looks like he used to be a tagger.

I take it you never heard the phrase “it’s the thought that counts.”
I guarantee you, some of you couldn’t even write in script. Of course if it were typed, it wouldn’t be as meaningful. Thank for once!
Here’s a fun fact: Coach Polk still says, birthday and other cards for special occasions to all players that have ever played for now. that included team, USA players and any others that he happened to coach. And they are hand written.

Sorry if this is a dumb question...
Who did Texas lose too and what was the score.
I'm guessing it was LSU but I honestly don't remember.

If I write you a letter, you're gonna want it to be typed if you want to be able to read it.

Who the hell down votes this?
Probably someone who knows how to spell Congratulations.
...and because they never misspelled a single word in their entire adult life (they think).

Did Auggie send some chocolate chip cookies with that note ?

Wrong on a few things. Jungmannn pitched the second game, not the 3rd. Brandon(can’t remember the last name) hung a curveball after mahtook didn’t sniff the fastball.

I wonder if Sully did this for Jay.
I doubt it. And that’s not a criticism of Sully if he didn’t. Auggie was on his way out, Paul had been coaching forever and was well respected, and they were in different conferences.
Paul probably respected the program Sully had built and wanted to acknowledge his achievement after winning his 1st NC. Granted, they were still in the same conference, but Paul knew the end was near. Jay and Sully are going to be battling in the SEC and Omaha for probably the next 15-20 years. They’re too close to the same age and contemporaries. I just think a note like that be a little weird. I’m not sure that Sully is old and established enough to be comfortable writing that letter, and I doubt Jay would be comfortable receiving it.
All that said, Sully very well may have written Jay a letter. But if he didn’t, I don’t think it’s something he should be criticized for.
