The first two (and sort of the third) are vastly different from 4-6. You almost have to fight through them. There were big gaps in the series early on before sequels became more regularized. If you don’t like the first 2, don’t cut out the series. Like someone else said, they get better and better.
ETA: I think 3 is really the bridge between the two parts of the series. It has elements from both. But once ghost protocol came out they just went to a whole new level.
Adding what others have said. The main draw of 3 is Phillip Seymour Hoffmanns villain. Easily my favorite of the series.

Completely agree. The past 3 are the great ones, although I do love Hoffmans villain in the third film.

One was ok, two was really bad. Three with Phillip Seymour Hoffman was fantastic...Four - Six are on another world.

I always thought they messed up killing Emilio Estevez. He would have been great in the series
