Someone should ask CCL ‘why’ they lowered the initiation fee to $5k per. Interesting story that’s a bit embarrassing.

They had a small promotion last month or so for new members with a $5 or $6k initiation fee to help their membership numbers, I am sure it was a a deal that is too good to be true and later down the road the new members will be paying for it

Well you gotta spill the beans. I always thought about joining CCL to have another option to play a nice course and mix it up. At five k initiation I might have missed my shot.

That’s all I know, had a meeting with a BRCC member and he was the one who told me about the CCL promotion and they picked up 41 new members and a lot came from the UClub

I’m in Dallas and was about to comment on this
$5k for one of the best clubs in the city? Mother frick there are multiple clubs in Dallas with initiation fees over $100k, only club in the city with fees at <$5k is Brookhaven

CCL needs to take about 100 more. A major problem is there are too many members and too many rounds that chew up the course. They should raise the monthly dues and cut the membership, less play same amount of money.
They need to invest in the course and get a new superintendent and general manager that has a proper vision for the course.
With the current demand for the course and the LSU money, there is really no reason the course should not be immaculate, other than incompetence.

The CCL promo was supposed to be join with a group of:
10+ for $10k dues
15+ for $7.5k dues
20+ for $5k dues
But apparently they just nixed that and added 50ish people at $5k dues. Most of the additions were from UClub. This was back in March or April and it’s over now.

The dues at CCL are already around 1k a month. What would you propose they go to?
Edit .. my mistake, I misinterpreted your comment. You meant CCL should take 100 more members from UC and UC should increase dues. Couldn’t agree more.

UClub is a money grab for owners. They don’t play and have no interest in improving course. They apply bandaids which slow issues but are never fixed. This is catching up now and that’s why the bunkers are shitty, the course now longer drains, the fairways are rock hard from not watering enough, waste areas are full of weeds, and there is no growth under trees. Literally starting to look like Santa Maria. Until there is a focus on catering to the paying members, and not in the 1-2 plant scrambles a week, the course will continue to get shittier.

In true LSU fashion they will wait until it’s completely wrecked and then swoop in with ten million dollars and rehab it when they could have saved eight of that ten keeping up with maintenance.

I know a few people that got in on the CCL deal, with dues at about $375 for juniors, wish I would have know about it so I could have done it. Also the numbers I heard were around 70 new members with the majority coming from U Club. They also said there will never be a deal like that again lol.

I bet there won’t! CCL isn’t struggling that bad for members. I might still circle back and do CCL at some point though. It’s a very nice course and I just run out of options so quick in BR. Hardly a decent public course to be found; SM and BC are the only ones. Then you are left with U club and my home course which get old playing all the time. I like U club generally but with the pace of play and waning management, I’d be more than happy to drop that membership and pick up CCL.
