I remember STTDNick vividly. I think it evolved from there.

And it started as just STTD. The B came later. And it wasnt that popular at first.

Maybe the Darlene from Roseanne chick from the LSU basketball game should get partial credit for adding the “bitch” part.

Totally agree. The fact that adults actually chant this is really sad.

Southern Band taught LSU Neck after the Joint National Championship Parade. SU won the Black College Naty the year LSU won the Naty. So it had to start sometime after that. The next Season LSU played the song at their games.

I can confirm it was 04 towards the later part of the season. I didn’t think it would carryovers through to the following year but it did. And I can completely believe it was you and a frat dude. I was near the origin and can remember saying and others giving me a smile.

It was not kosher to say it in 04.

I don’t remember Neck being played until 07. And it was a few years later that STTDB was added

So it just disappeared for 5-6 years completely and then reappeared in 2010?
Lol. Seems implausible. It was not around at all in 06-09.

I know I am an old fart, but I think the fans were better back in the day when they didn’t have to resort to vulgarities. We cheered loud, long, and with relative class. STTDB is an embarrassment.

Chanting GeauxTigers, Geaux Tigers, Geaux Tigers, Kick their arse after first downs has been around since at least the 80s. So let’s not act all high and mighty.

I know a guy whose brother was in the group of front row students that started the second down dance in the 90s. It’s sadly been altered a little bit with new batches students that it doesn’t resemble it’s original glory.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it started during the 07-08 championship season. It was my sophomore year and after playing the Gamecocks, students started adding "you suck...c***" to the song the band played a bit after points were scored, "Ohhhh weeeeeee Ohhhhh, ohhhhh...YOU SUCK."

When the band started playing "Neck" some students between the 2007 and 2008 football seasons started saying STTDB while others chanted the traditional, "Talking out the side of your neck" that HBCUs have long done. It caught on from there to the point of profanity was fused with any song the band played and thus got some chants banned like "Oh We Oh" and "Neck."

Maybe I'm off, but that's at least my earliest memories from '06 - '10 while there.

Band Playing Neck in 2008

They played it once or twice late in the 2006 season and then for the Arkansas road game they played it like once every 30 seconds for the entire game as LSU fans completely took over War Memorial Stadium. It became part of the team's identity and lore that day and has been played regularly since.

I am older than dirt and I agree.

We had fun - we had fun we could share with our great-grandchildren (I know this - I do this)

We had fun that is timeless - and it was real fun - requiring some degree of intelligence and observations of illogical amusing occurrences.

Today, there seems to be a race to the bottom - to see who can cram in the most f-words into an otherwise totally insignificant utterance. There is no humor there - unless you like making fun of ugliness and creating the ugliness to make fun of.

it is weak mentally - it is abhorrent morally - it is self-destructive

for the latter conclusion - just look at the latest craze = the nullification of biology just for the uglinesss it creates - no other reason - gives them a reason to make themselves 'think' they are 'thinking' 'deep thoughts' - all circular reasoning that is the equivalent of what used to be our making fun of philosophers who argued over how many angels could dance on the head of a pin.

And you could relate that nonsense to any age kid you wanted without losing your man-card or stooping to gutter vulgarity.

oh - and to all you nihilists = go fukc yourselves
