imo, and recognizing that all 8 teams are really good, wake, stanford and lsu are the three best teams in the tournament. really a rough draw for all 3. beating tennessee in the first game is therefore a must.

all these teams have pitching and hitting - none of them ever quit. what will be interesting to me is that wake's home park is small, and they were really smacking the homers there. Omaha is a large park, and a lot of those homers will be fly-outs. but they appear to be a very good team. I would predict the winner from this bracket to win it all.

Stanford has by far the worst ERA of the teams in the CWS.

Take out Dutton and Little and that becomes 3.38 over 42.2 IP.

If being right at estimating who would win was part of my job, I would probably go with TCU vs wake.

I totally understand why someone would choose Florida and Wake. Both have incredibly deep pitching staffs and can hit top to bottom.

I have seen sentiments like this about Florida’s pitching expressed in various ways this week, but I’m not sure why. Florida was 7th in the SEC in ERA in conference play (just ahead of LSU). They only allowed 4 fewer baserunners than LSU (H+BB+HBP) in 0.1 fewer IP in conference and surrendered one more HR. For all games, Florida’s ERA is 4.52. LSU is 4.54. LSU’s WHIP is 1.31 and Florida’s is 1.37. Fundamentally, the two pitching staffs are quite comparable. Skenes almost directly offsets Florida’s advantage at #2 and #3 in the rotation. Florida is neither as good as people make them seem nor LSU as bad as people think.

Obviously I want LSU to win but don’t want jinx them. The winner of the whole thing will be whoever wins Saturday between us and Tennessee.

I think it’ll be Tenner v FLA in the final and Tennessee winning it.

Let the downvotes rain. I’m just trying to be objective as I can. Tennessee, WF and UF have deeper bullpens. If this was in Rosenblatt I’d bet LSU to win. TD Ameritrade is a hard park to generate big offensive numbers in. I like our chances with Skenes in Game 1. Game 1 is all that matters as far as getting in position to make a strong run with this team. If we win Saturday then for game 2 if Floyd comes out and struggles early, I’d throw Hurd depending on score. Win those 2 games, then you pitch game 3 by committee.

Quesadilla, you aren’t making much sense with your Tennessee prediction. If you like Skenes to win game 1, then the odds of Tennessee coming out of the loser’s bracket are quite low.

Final 4 prediction

Wake
LSU
Florida
TCU

I’ll go Florida/LSU final with Tigers getting revenge from 2017.

I like our odds with Skenes obviously but if the bats go cold could be looking at a 2-1, 3-2 game. Tennessee has solid depth pitching. As much as I don’t like them, If there’s any team to come out of the losers bracket on that side, it’d be them. Kinda get Ole Miss from last season vibes. Granted Ole Miss had a subpar regular season last year due to injuries. I think it’ll be someone out of the SEC to win it
