Watched it last night with a buddy. The 1st 20 minutes were pretty good. The CGI of Harrison Ford’s face was good and the action was the same. After that it just didn’t hold up. The chase scene through the town was boring, The old men trying to run made me laugh.

If older Indy had not gotten involved the villain would never had a shot of going through with his plan.

I did not notice any woke stuff. A few callbacks to the other movies but all done very clunkily. I did not like Wombat. She seemed so self centered based on being the daughter of a man that was supposed to be this great guy that was a really close friend of Indy that we’ve never seen before.

I went in hoping it was better than the crystal skull. I’m not sure it was. Crystal skull is pretty good for the 1st 2/3 of the movie. I was just bored for 2/3 of this one.

I understand you have to suspend reality for these movies but there comes a point when suspending reality just turns into absurdity. If I knew I could post spoilers I would post about all the incidences that pushes it to the verge of absurdity.

Saw this last week.

-There is no wokeness. None at all.

-I actually really like Phoebe Waller-Bridge from her work in Fleabag. And she does a good job in this film. But, the script does her no favors. She is set up to be hated a little too much. And she seemingly completely changes character half way through the film for no real reason. It’s a shame because a little bit better writing job could easily have had the audience on her side.

-About 3/4ths of the film is pretty good. But the ending really goes off the rails. That’s hard to overcome unfortunately.

-Overall, this film is decent. Not great but also not the train wreck everyone expected. For a summer time waster/popcorn flick, you could do much worse.

-Dial of Destiny ranks 4th of the 5 Indy films. It would be nearly impossible to touch the first 3 films at this point. But, Dial is also significantly better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

If you’re interested in this film, go see it. You won’t be disappointed.
