Doing long deferred kitchen reno. Wife likes a Kitchen Aid 36” dual fuel that is a little over $7k. The matching hood is another $1400. That’s modest compared to some other brands. Comparable Jenn Air is $9k. Thermador $10k. Viking, don’t ask.

I could get a brand I’ve never heard of from Lowe’s for around 4k, but whatever.

Thanks Obama.

If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

Everything costs a lot more than it did five years ago.

Everything is a much lower quality than it was 10 years ago.

Bet it will last the same 5 years the expensive names will last nowadays. Just have to get over the fact your wife won’t be able to brag about the name on her stove to her friends the 3 times a year they come over

Better off getting an electric range for resale value. In about 5 years buyers will insist you replace the gas with electric.

We built a new house in 2017 and it has Wolf/SubZero in it- OT baller, I know.

Our 36” Wolf (OT poor) was $6500 back then.

To think that a Kitchen Aid POS is more than that is highway robbery.

Kitchen Aid is junk. The only appliance we changed so far was the POS Kitchen Aid dishwasher.

We have a Cove now (back to OT baller status)

When women started watching all those home improvement shows and decided they had to update their kitchens every 5 years.

Nope. I put one in last week that was regularly 1600 that I bought for 900. Figure if I get ten years out of it, I've done well. My bologna will fry just fine on it. I'm poor and not ashamed to admit it.

So you’re saying the $1000 I just budgeted for a new range isn’t going to cut it?

You can get a gas range for less than 5k. You've chosen a 36", which puts you in the "professional" range category. That costs more. Plus dual fuel is more expensive than all gas.

Check out monogram. Great quality for the price (not cheaper though)

just like with trucks, for no justified reason they started increasing prices until people stopped buying them.

with trucks that price was $70k before the idiots stopped buying them, then they lowered the price down about 5% and kept it there.

we are now waiting to see how far it goes with stoves, as of now idiots are still buying so the price continues to rise.

they already did this with refrigerators and next will be something else. market price is set by the idiots who continue to buy the overpriced shite
