Tigerbait,
What about their visits?
Should we be concerned about UCONN?

Koval is on the brink of making a decision in the near future but LSU is in a good spot. If she doesn't go to ND later this week, thats gonna say a lot.... even if she did visit ND doesn't mean LSU wouldn't land her but shutting it down would almost immediately point to LSU getting a commitment soon.

Strong still has no other visits scheduled at this time but could take another visit. If she did this would be almost the exact same situation as Rosario last year. Rosario visited LSU in early September but didn't commit to LSU until late October (she visited SC and TN even after her LSU official). Unfortunately this was always likely to drag out towards NSD. More stress but expected when you are in the mix after the #1 recruit. LSU will probably visit Strong again pretty soon at home/and or watch her HS practice

Hope they get Koval to commit pretty soon. Either her brother (or cousin?) goes to LSU currently.

You’d think that would give LSU the upper hand.

Looks like Koval just started following Mikaylah, Izzy, Velez, S. Strong, Coach Redus, Coach Rice, and LSU WBKB on Instagram.

Sarah started following Koval, Mikaylah, Velez, Coach Daphne Mitchell, LSU WBKB and Janae Kent (older follow) on IG.

Max Preps notes, as of 1-26-23, that Kate has a 23 y/o brother Mykolaa who “attends school in the United States”. She also has a 15 y/o brother in school in the states, too. Her mother is in Canada and her father is a pharmacist in Kyiv.

This must be him then, Mykola Koval. Looks like he just finished undergrad and started grad school at LSU.

New SLAM magazine article on Kate Koval

quote:

Koval’s versatility allows her to stretch the floor and knock down threes without hesitation. “It’s kind of disrespectful to me—leaving me open, thinking I can’t shoot,” she says. All business on the court, her competitive nature is what makes her personality. “You’re probably not going to see me smile or laugh during the game,” she says.

I think she would fit right in with the ultra-competitive on-court personalities on the roster.

quote:

“I go into every single game knowing I’m going to be double-teamed, even triple-teamed,” she says. Dare to put three defenders on her and she’ll dish the ball to her teammates for wide open shots. “I’m going to pass that ball,” she says, “and I’m going to continue to do that because it’s the right play.”

There won’t be any LSU player triple teamed in the ‘24 season.

quote:

Koval’s rising number of offer letters includes top programs like LSU, Notre Dame, Duke and Stanford, and she still has more official recruiting visits lined up. Whichever program she decides to commit to, her goal remains the same. “The goal is winning the national championship with my college team,” she says. Koval also has her eyes set on the big League. “The long, long term is going pro, WNBA.”

While it’s a vague timeline for a goal, you’d have to think the defending national champs rate pretty highly on the criteria-filling scoreboard.

Angel teasing she might not declare ? I mean her and Hailey will have already made a ton of money. Why leave? My God that 24/25 team would rival some of the best teams of all time.

Angel's decision is pretty fluid right now, as the NIL money has put her in no rush, but she's hinted she would declare if she wins another championship and/or if there's a major market WNBA team (NY, LA, CHI) likely to select her, to maximize her off-court marketing.

She needs to develop a reliable mid-range asap or else she will just be an undersized Rodman-esque rebounder/defender role player in the W, if there is even a space for that in such a small league. While NIL deals can follow her to the pros & would supplement her paltry irrelevant $72K WNBA salary, it could dry up if she's not starting, or outright cut.

Smart move is to find her shot over 2 seasons, win 3 championships, rake in tons of dough as a college superstar, then with her refined skills & celebrity, start on a pro team. She can't pick where she goes, but if her skills are honed, she can be a league star and the NIL brand deals will continue to follow, big city or not. *(Same goes for Hailey & her PG skill refinement.)

Kim Mulkey will dominate the 2024 class by signing Strong, Koval & Carlton

There’s a Texas-based wbkb content creator on YouTube who did a nice LSU wbkb recruiting video essay. For an outsider looking in, he did his research.

Um… that can’t be legit. Carlton committed to Texas today and never had a visit scheduled this fall

Only Strong, Koval, Edwards, Cambridge have visits scheduled. It’s a bit of risky class with such a small group of all top 5 recruits unless they know something we don’t about players returning or not

And I just commented to the guy that ever since Carlton narrowed her list, there hasn't been anything Carlton-LSU related, for months. Figures.

Schaefer is quietly building Texas. It’s taking longer than I expected. If he gets Chavez and keeps a few others home look out. The SEC is going to be a juggernaut.

If Kim can land Strong and Kaval, to pair with Williams , that would be unbelievable.
