Last two baseball games both had the team "scraping by"

You can't make the CWS if the effort in some of the games is simply "scraping by." The last Ole Miss game was a win, but it was a win where LSU lucked out and scraped out a weak one-run win. LSU put out the same effort yesterday and lost by one - scraping by didn't work.

My very knowledgeable h.s. baseball coach (Class B, but he was only there because he liked the country life) always told us that we needed to play somewhere else if we were satisfied with victories where we just scraped by.

holy shite. Show me how many blowouts there are in Omaha. Winning tight games is actually a better indicator of how you will play in those postseason moments. Yesterday sucked but your diving too deep.

Your HS baseball coach also isn't coaching against the very best players and future big leaguers every time his team steps on the field. I'm sure if he was he wouldn't mind victories by small margins.

Tell me you know nothing about baseball without saying you know nothing about baseball.

You’re right. No team has ever made it to Omaha winning 1 run games. You have to 10 run rule every midweek game and at least 2 10 run rules on the weekend.

You simply don’t get enough style points in the polls to make the playoff without it

Your very knowledgeable Baseball coach coached class B because he didn't know shite. Seems like it rubbed off on you.

I didn't see a lack of effort. Hell, the last play of the game was due to over aggressiveness. Two of our top position players were out and a third still recovering from injury. Again, the issue is not effort.

If you can’t win 1 run games then you aren’t going to amount to shite.

Is something wrong about what I said?

Could not possibly disagree more. Teams need the pressure of performing in tight games.

Nicholls was fantastic yesterday, near perfection, and still needed breaks to get the win.

Show me anyone that has to do with the baseball program that says they are satisfied with anything they have done so far this year.

I’m not sure why people think the way fans talk about games and results is in anyway a reflection of how the team thinks. If that were true they would give up every time the other team scores a run like so many on the rant do.

One of the worst baseball tales I’ve seen on here and that’s saying ALOT.

Scraping by is exactly how you win in Omaha. So many things have to go your way to make it through the post season and the scrappier teams are usually the ones who do it. Regular season is one big round of practice for when things actually matter. We need to have comebacks, wins by pitching, wins by hitting, wins by defense, wins when we are off and all sorts of scenarios to be prepared.

In 1997 Bama beat LSU something like 27-2. Tigers won the Natty. You know nothing about college baseball

Imagine if we had played all our starters? How many times do we see Dylan with an 0-fer? It was just one of those nights where Nicholls played so far above their heads and we weren’t at our best or most complete as a team. It happens.

It’s baseball, sometimes you need to scrape by. Scraping by is a strength not a weakness as you’ll need that mental toughness come tourney time.

Part of the reason why Tenn couldn’t complete the job last season. They couldn’t and didn’t know how to scrape by. It takes HEART.
