No, they are recommended because their build quality is excellent, they last a long arse time, you can actually fill the tub full of water and open/close the lid (with a clothes pin trick) while it's running without it stopping.
My family washes the damn blue hell out of clothes and our Speed Queen's are the only thing I've owned that works and doesn't break down.

(1) Don’t get a front door loader, get a top loader.
(2) Don’t get one without an agitator. It’s a new fad that I’m told is terrible because you must put the clothes in a certain way for it to work. The ones with agitators, you just load normally.
(3) The less electronics the better. You want one with dials, they are easier to swap out parts vs ones with computers and sensor buttons.

We had an LG set and it was trash.
Tore those things down about every 6 months to fix something on them.
Bought a speed queen set and have been happy since.

Having owned a front-loaded washer, I vowed to never own another one.
SQ is the best, but since you said that isn't an option, purchase a top-loaded washer at a minimum.

Electrolux has been the best we've had. We have a front loader and had no issues in 3 years.

A front load washer gets the clothes barely saturated and tumblrs them like a dryer. My wife would run each loaf about 3 times and the clothes still weren’t clean. It was an $800 Bosch that we bought in 2009 and donated it to the church in 2011. Bought a non-he top load Maytag and it lasted about three years. After a couple more maytags, we bought a speed queen in 2016 and it has been great. Weighs about 500 lbs empty and uses a lot of water (equals clean clothes). We will never own another front load or an “he”.

LG washers/dryers are getting very good reliability ratings lately.
I went with the Costco version the first one you posted and really like it.

Front loaders clean better and are more energy efficient as they remove much more water than a top loader (saving significant dryer energy). Additional positives are they can't be overloaded and use less water.
The downsides to a front loader are you have to leave the door open when not in use to prevent a mildew smell.
After having to help two different neighbors try and fix their top loaders that destroyed themselves due to a load imbalance, I personally have no interest in a top loader.
