The food is solid for a medium priced chain restaurant. I often crave the chicken fried steak with their white gravy. My kids live going there too

This is your reasoning for it being overrated?
I was in Alexandria for work a few years back. Hotel was behind the texas roadhouse, and the place was packed every night. Tried to go one Friday and they said it was a 2 hour wait. I didn't wait, but figured if people were waiting 2 hours, it must be pretty good.
A year or so later, came to the one in Baton Rouge. Place was packed, but only waited 30 minutes on a Tuesday night. Forgetting the issue with wrong steak, it was totally average, Maybe a little below. Meat was tough and not much flavor. The ribs were decent though.
So I say it's overrated based on the fact that people are waiting 2 hours to eat there. Maybe I just got a bad cut of meat, but that was my experience.

That's probably being generous.

No, not ever, not once. It’s more like Pelican Club, Clancy’s…
But my in-laws get in the Lafayette rut circuit of Lafonda, Don’s, Social.
Neither side is stuck on any chain.

Unless they are toxic, alcoholic, abusers,
but the one in the city near us stays packed and I like a 6oz sirloin, sweet potato, salad, and rolls for less than $15 myself

Mine won't go anywhere else to eat and absolutely rave about the food. Blows my mind.
It's because Texas Roadhouse is one of the few chains that offer a legit value for decent steak and sides.
They are smarter than you.

Longhorn in Dothan, AL has always been good. The TR here in WPB, FL is just like what others in the thread have said - just good, solid food at reasonable prices.

I'm a parent and I love Texas Roadhouse, and Longhorn, and Houston's, and Logan's, and Outback, and Saltgrass.
I am a sucker for mid-tier chain steakhouses because I know I can get an edible steak, a good baked potato, a nice salad, warm dinner rolls, and big tall cold mug of beer when I'm traveling and want a cheap option.
They have basically a ISO9000 type process/procedure for practically everything in the restaurant. When the employees have been trained and follow the procedure to a T, the food and service can be pretty good. Its when the procedure is not followed that they become just average to poor.
There is a direct relationship between the general manager's ability and the staff's experience and your visit being a better than worse mid-tier dining experience.
I have seen the ebb and flows as the staff changes over the years.(especially during COVID) When corporate comes to town to root out bad staff and then get everybody on track, the level of food and service goes up every time.
And I love my family member discount!!

Texas Roadhouse was founded across the Ohio River from Louisville in Clarksville. I've always liked it. Solid food for a reasonable price.

I have zero issues with TR. Seems to satisfy all of the family's taste buds and is always a no-fuss place to eat.

Isn't that the peanut shells on the floor place? If so, for that alone I enjoy it.

My parents have been dead over a decade, but I enjoy that place.

Like others have said I think it’s good if you go in with the expectation of a chain steakhouse. I was just looking at the menu and laughed because Kraft Mac and Cheese is their premium side.

Plenty just on the first two pages and I didn’t read further

The one a the hotel here in Billings said you now have to put the shells in a bucket. Fine with me. I like that fact that I leave with 2 bags of peanuts.

I have a business associate who’s in his mid-80s.
He’s worth $20M-ish.
He’d rather Texas Roadhouse than any other venue no matter who’s paying.
