It's insane that people are apparently OK with taking a nearly 100 year-old law meant to restrict ACTUAL foreign agents and using it to arrest people posting internet memes.

If you are working and getting paid by a subversive foreign power clandestinely then guess what? You are in fact an agent of a foreign power. That is not okay whether you’re posting memes or hacking NASA

I'm certain that zher is OK with internment camps for you and your family.

People wonder how the Japanese internment camps happened. It seems crazy to think about. But then you realize that people like decatur exist and it makes sense.

Legitimate commercial transactions may be treated differently depending on what it is. Registering under FARA would be the safe thing to do though.

Decatur literally argued with me that Nigel Farage was a Russian asset, despite the fact that Farage's entire political career revolved around getting the UK out of the EU, which began when John Major's Tory government ratified the 1992 Maastricht Treaty, years before we ever knew who Vladimir Putin was.

Decatur thinks just about anyone in the West that is critical of the US government or the EU is a prima facie Russian agent.

It’s an automatic initial thought process.

Says this matter of factly. Like it’s not ripe for abuse by political actors in positions of power.

Putin should have thought about it when he invaded Ukraine, that he'd be putting Russian agents at risk.

They can defeat Ukraine alone but not Ukraine with the whole Western world behind them

So you’re saying I should register as a Russian agent. Just to be safe and limit my chances of being arrested and prosecuted.

No bells of concern going off here for you in your mind? No? Nothing?

Or is the reality that you do see how this could be abusive...but you still like your side having the power to do it?

Here is an interview that I watched in mid-January of Omar Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party by Kim Iversen.

https://rumble.com/v25amto-the-kim-iversen-show-1-13-23.html

There is a brief (about 3 minutes) lead-up/history @ the 20:00 mark followed immediately by the interview which starts with some video & discussion about an FBI raid last July.

*** The title of the show/video is "SHOCKING FOIA DOCUMENTS: COVID Pandemic Was a Secret DoD Operation Dating Back to Obama Administration"... that segment is also worth a watch.

We’re back to Lincoln’s America and 1917 Wilsonian America. Refusing to be One With The Body will have painful consequences.

The indictment alleges that the four Americans engaged in “agitprop” by “writing articles that contained Russian propaganda and disinformation,” but even if we pretend that’s both (A) a quantifiable claim and (B) a proven fact, propaganda and disinformation are both speech that the government is constitutionally forbidden from repressing.

It’s not reasonable for the government to just dismiss the First Amendment on the grounds that it is being “weaponized”. You can’t have your government dictating what speech is valid and what counts as “agitprop” and “disinformation”, because they’ll always define those terms in ways which benefit the government, thus giving more power to the powerful and taking power away from the people. You can’t have your government dictating what political groups are legitimate and which ones are tools of a foreign government, because you can always count on the powerful set such designations in ways which benefit themselves.

But you knew that.

Has FARA been addressed by the Supreme Court as it relates to speech, rather than actual illegal activity?

This looks like one of the indicted.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. - Members of a Georgia-based Black separatist group arrested after a SWAT standoff and alleged kidnapping and sexual assault are will have to wait a while longer for their trial in Fayette County.

Fayetteville police arrested 36-year-old Augustus Romain and 21-year-old Xavier Rushin in July 2022 in connection with the standoff at a home in the Woodbyne subdivision off of White Road. They were set to start their jury trial Monday, but now a judge has pushed the case to the spring.

quote:

In the warrant released to the public after the arrests, the Fayetteville Police Department says that two men had been forced at gunpoint from part of the home into its padlock-locked garage and were not allowed to leave.

Officials allege that Romain, who also goes by the name "Gazi Kodo" is the leader of a group known as the Black Hammer Party, an organization that describes itself as a "symbol of hope for the colonized working class" and which police say they have documented as a "criminal street gang." Rushin, also known as "Keeno," and Ammons, aka "AP," were both members of the group, the warrant states.

According to the warrant, Romain ordered both Rushin and Ammons to point guns at the two victims and forced them into the garage so that he "could anally sodomize" at least one of them.

Rushin was arrested by officers outside the home after police say they found him walking Romain's dog when they arrived. When police tried to approach him, investigators say he tried to pull away and reached for a gun in his pocket.

WARRANTS REVEAL NEW DETAILS IN FAYETTEVILLE KIDNAPPING, STANDOFF AT BLACK HAMMER HOME

Romain is charged with two counts of aggravated sodomy, conspiracy to commit a felony, false imprisonment (party to a crime), kidnappings (party to a crime), aggravated assault (party to a crime), and criminal street gang activity. Rushin is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, false imprisonment, kidnapping, aggravated assault, criminal street gang activity, and obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer,

The Podesta's didn't and they were fine. But if you supported the other side, you were prosecuted. And you were one of the biggest cheerleaders of this blatant double standard.
