Posted elsewhere but here’s an ESPN article from November about incoming recruits for those interested.

1. LSU Tigers

Highest-ranked commit: G Mikaylah Williams(No. 2)
Previous ranking: 1

Kim Mulkey had the No. 17 recruiting class for the 2022 class and then added impact transfers in the offseason. She followed that up with the No. 1 2023 class, led by superstar Mikaylah Williams. Williams has won gold medals in both 3x3 and the FIBA U17 World Cup. She is a physical guard who is arguably the best one-on-one isolation player in the class. The addition of No. 7 Aalyah Del Rosario pushed LSU to the top spot. Del Rosario is the top true post in the class. She has soft hands and a nice touch out to the top of the key. She is a physical presence inside and passes very well out of the double team. Her club teammate and No. 44 Angelica Velez is a shifty point guard with an East Coast flair to her game. She sets the table for others and runs the show. No. 73 Janae Kent is a wing/forward with nice mid-range game and the ability to knock down the 3-point shot. She gets on the glass well

Here is the current roster with freshman added and no attrition from last year. WBB you are able to have 15 players so that leaves 3 spots available.

G Last-Tear Poa 5-8 JR.
G Kateri Poole 5-8 JR
G Flaujae Johnson 5-10 SO.
G Mikaylah Williams 6-0 FR.
G Angelica Valez 5-7 FR.
G. Izzy Besselman 5-10 SO.

F Sa’Myah Smith 6-2 SO.
F Angel Reese 6-3 JR.
F Amani Bartlett 6-3 JR.
F Alisa Williams 6-2 SO.
F Aliyah Del Rosario 6-5 FR.
F Janae Kent 6-1 FR.

One transfer player not mentioned worth a look is G Lexi Donarski 6-0 SR. from Iowa State. Averaged 13.2 points per game, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Able to hit from 3 and was 2022 Big12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Yeah, those FT and trey percentages stand out. And face it, that two-tone do would fit in perfectly with this team.

I hope she doesn’t get in trouble off the court. I’d hate to see a headline “PaoPao picked up by the PoPo.”

But would be great to hear the announcer: “PaoPao over to Poa for three—POW! Good!!”

That’s true. Izzy isn’t taking up a scholly and I’m assuming we’ll pick up another walk-on for practice and the end of the bench.

Emily Ward received a scholly during the season, so we do have four scholarship spots available.

My guess is we take three and leave a spot open. PaoPao from Oregon, Coulibaly from Auburn, and Barnum from Arkansas, and I’d be jumping for joy.

However, I think if you get a point guard like PaoPao, you won’t be picking up a shooting guard like Coulibaly because she’d naturally want to start and will go somewhere where she’d get a lot of minutes.

So PaoPao starts at point. Who is the odd man out for the other two backcourt spots among Mikaylah Williams, Flau’jae Johnson, and Coulibaly? Williams sure ain’t sitting.

With that numbers game, I just don’t see another high scoring shooting guard signing on here if we get a starting point guard from the portal—which I agree with 357 that that is what we need.

So I can foresee a transfer haul similar to PaoPao, an impact big like Barnum from Arkansas, and the third spot filled with a three-point specialist similar to Jasmine Carson who would come off the bench.

She'll probably want in, I don't know if she's an automatic take.

I think she’ll look for a 3point shooter to replace Carson as well.

Gotta have it! Need two IMO from the portal who have 'perimeter games' that will make our OFF more complete.
Get a big for the middle to clean the glass and defend, and get two shooters who can open up the floor/spacing for themselves and their teammates. Can't wait to see who CKM adds.

Even disregarding the off-court issues—and her father jumping right into a Twitter battle with VT players is a big one—after that finger injury, there is no certainty she’d even be productive.

VT has a good coach. I think he kept her arse on the bench for a good reason and the team made the Final Four. I just don’t see us taking her but obviously that decision is in Coach Mulkey’s hands and I’m sure she’ll make the right one.

Owusu was a top 5 recruit out of HS and an All American at Maryland. Averaged 18 and 15 PPG as a sophomore and junior. When healthy she is an absolute steal for any program.

The question will be if Kim does her research on the VT/Owusu situation and sees if its a fit for the program she is running. Kim has a history of taking in transfers who had issues at other schools and had lots of success with them. I trust Kim will make the right decision.

She would be an instant impact IF healthy and there is zero doubt of it. But I will be interested to see how things shake out in the coming weeks

Rogers could potentially be entering the portal in coming days and is very close with Reese

I just watched video on Rogers and Paopo and would be very happy if Kim got both. I think Reese is friends with both. If Rogers doesn't go pro I think LSU has a good shot at getting her. Then we just need a veteran BIG!

A lot of solid LSU connections. Owusu and Rogers friends with Reese; Coulibaly with the Bob Starkey connection from Auburn. PaoPao with a possible Reese connection and heck, it seems like everybody and their sister is transferring out of Oregon.

I have my doubts about Owusu and I don’t know if she, Rogers, or Coulibaly can be a playmaking point guard rather than primarily a shooter.

I know Kim will do her homework so I’ll just sit back and see how this plays out. Can’t help but be optimistic and feel we will be the first choice for some damn good players.

I don’t think we would take all three. I think we would take Rogers and another big so Del Rosario can develop. We still have Johnson, Williams the phenom, Velez, Poa, and Poole for guards. Poole and Poa played big minutes so I doubt they transfer.
