Even if true, "Humans" won't achieve immortality...... those humans with enough power and/or money will achieve immortality. Whichever corporation figures this out will be thinking dollar signs and nothing of helping mankind!

I think he meant to say that the ultra wealthy will achieve immortality in 8 years. Us poors will die like the others.

Not enough money from the ultra-wealthy for any of it to turn a profit, plus there would be absolutely no overall societal gain if only a few people gain longevity. There's still going to be a shite ton of jobs/work that will require lots of other people.

Aside from that, most new technology does start in the hands of the ultra-wealthy but eventually is made cheaper and more available to the SES classes below the top class.

Smartphones, computers, medical technologies, etc.

LIfe extending nanobots won't be available for the masses. Just the mega rich.

If he’s right, the good news is immortality will be cost prohibitive for most people.

The bad news is we’ll have George Soros funded DAs for generations to come.

Immortality will also be racist once the data comes in. Women and minorities to be hurt the most.

At first then prices will drop, just like what happened with VCR’s, DVD players and flat screen TV’s.

Humanity is barreling towards an elite driven global war or elite driven slavery, most likely both. Don’t care to live to see either.

So we're going to go from zero nanobots to nanobots with the ability to reverse aging in 8 years. Hmm
I think Moore’s law will get us there easily.

This is true.

Whether you are religious or you are atheist and God=Nature. Result will be the same.

Mankind’s notions of immortality apart from God.

Prey-Michael Crichton

That Hideous Strength-C.S. Lewis

quote:

“ And what is the first practical step ? ”

“Yes, that’s the real question.

As I said, the inter- planetary problem must be left on one side for the moment.

The second problem is our rivals on this planet. I don’t mean only insects and bacteria. There’s far too much life of every kind about, animal and vegetable. We haven’t really cleared the place yet.

First we couldn’t ; and then we had aesthetic and humanitarian scruples : and we still haven’t short-circuited the question of the balance of Nature.
All that is to be gone into.

The third problem is man himself.”

“Go on. This interests me very much.”

“ Man has got to take charge of Man.

That means, remember, that some men have got to take charge of the rest — which is another reason for cashing in on it as soon as one can.

You and I want to be the people who do the taking charge, not the ones who are taken charge of. Quite.”

“ What sort of thing have you in mind ? ”

“Quite simple and obvious things, at first — sterilisation of the unfit, liquidation of backward races (we don’t want any dead weights), selective breeding. Then real education, including pre-natal education. By real education I mean one that has no ‘ take-it-or-leave-it ’ nonsense. A real education makes the patient what it wants infallibly: whatever he or his parents try to do about it. Of course, it’ll have to be mainly psychological at first. But we’ll get on to biochemical conditioning in the end and direct manipulation of the brain.”

“But this is stupendous, Feverstone.”

“It’s the real thing at last.
A new type of man : and it’s people like you who’ve got to begin to make him .”
