While Alvin is suspended why wouldn’t we put Taysom at RB?

We should absolutely draft a RB and also sign a vet on a team friendly deal but in all the ways we have used Taysom we really haven’t ever just stuck him at RB and given him the ball. He should still be used as a TE/slot hybrid guy and have his usual snaps at QB but the name of the game is to get the ball in your playmakers hands why wouldn’t we at least try? He runs with power and he’s faster than 95% of the guys on the field still. Just a thought. I’m sure Carmichael can’t think that deeply though. He could really play Kamara’s role as the receiving RB until he gets back.

Yes, we should totally have a 33 year old RB with an injury history as long as a Walgreens receipt toting the rock.

Not saying make him the feature RB but isn’t the name of the game to get the ball in your playmaker’s hands? It’s just a thought. He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands no one can question that. We are paying him a large salary why not get every ounce of production out of him that we can?

Hill is great in a substitute role. He's not a primary qb, wr, te or rb. He's just really good at all of them. If he was a primary rb he'd be out for the season by week 3 injured.

I just want taysom to still get carries in his role in short yardage/goal to go situations

How did he do at TE last year?
77 yards and 13 targets.
RB?
Atp 96 yards 575
Passing?
Attp 19 yards 240

So if you are going to pay him I would run the sh!t out of him

Ehh, considering his age and injury history, I think he should stay a goalline/1 yard line to gain type of runner. Saints need to pick up 2 rbs at min in the draft and FA.

Having a QB handing him the ball takes away the extra blocker Taysom would have when he's running the QB-wildcat option.

And playing straight RB takes away the mystery of if he's gonna pass or not, which is what makes him unique in the league as he's harder to defend.

You could maybe argue for more snaps at QB-Wildcat while AK is out, but limiting extra touches to traditional RB plays seems inefficient considering his versatility, imo.

He's dynamic because he's running from the qb position with 10 guys blocking for him.

RB is a young man's position. We don't need an aging Kamara(about a year from when RBs start to steadily decline) and a 33 year old Taysom to be our guys. We need a couple of young guns.

Not to mention, his ball security leaves something to be desired.

7 mil this year and 23 mil in dead money. I'll say it for the 3rd year in a row...use his arse for that amount of money. Dog catcher, hot dog vendor or long snapper.

Ge handled 21% of the rush attempts last year. They’re already doing exactly what you want

Taysom is a really good runner, but much of his success is due to him running from the QB position. When you run from the QB position, you have one extra blocker, creating an advantage. He is also getting old. He used to run like a tailback, now he runs like a fullback.

His running style exposes him to head trauma. Not conducive to the rb position. Particularly with his history.

He alreadys handles about 75 to 100 carries a year, and he scores a decent amount of running TDs.

Thats plenty.

We need to throw it to him a little more, but his role is a solid one.

We will be drafting a running back, so be prepared. Also, we will probably go after a vet as well.

Kamara, some RB in the top 3 rounds, and a free agent.

He would not last two games at RB.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted to oblivion for this. If Taysom is our best answer at RB when the Kamara suspension comes through, then he totes the rock. I really don't want to see Mark Ingram out there for 30 carries.
