It’s too heavily taxed. There will always be secondary black markets.

What net positive does all that shite provide to society though? For every one person that can enjoy crack responsibly there are 100 destroyed families with an addicted mom or dad who can’t hold a job or function. Making it legal and fda approved doesn’t magically make users responsible.

No but if there is a clinic that they can go to to receive their fix, they don't need to rob and kill for it. Crime is reduced.

Less violence, less dangerous drugs on the market.

Less money spent fighting an endless and fruitless war that we are losing. More cops fighting real crime and more prison space for violent offenders.

Its not taxed at all right now.

Legal drugs will dry up the black markets because the money will not be there. Its economics. You'll have a fraction of the violent crime.

“Clinic”

Yeah I can’t wait to live in a country where 10%-20% of the population gets a fixed income from the government because they can’t hold a job or support themselves because of their government approved addiction. We will also have to house, feed, medicate, and babysit these people. You think we can fund that? And fund the rest of the shite we already pay for?

Pretty much what we have now with added violent crime.

Where there is a demand, there will be a market. Its economics and does not fail.

You can't stamp it out. If you want cartels to lose power, the only effective method is legalization.

just because it would be legal doesn’t make crack safe. You can still die from using it. And domestic abuse from drug use would skyrocket. The buy/sell charges would go away but people would still commit crimes to steal the legal product they can’t afford because there is a 200% tax on it.

It makes the trade safer, 100%

I agree, but you’re trading 1 problem for 10 worse ones.

You wouldn’t be able to tel the difference in some of them.

Detroit already looks like a demilitarized zone.

Wrong

which problems are we preventing today? How effective is our policy? What parts of the current policy is working?

What causes most inner city violence?

The only two ways to stamp out drugs and cartels is draconian stuff like death penalty for dealer and life in prison for user. thats not a viable solution.

Done right, it would be far less than we pay now. But nothing the government does is done right.

Exactly.

What is working right now? Not a damn thing and we have spent trillions fighting it.

Sorry. We sent them all to Ukraine. But we still have an abundance of idiots. Can we send them to Mexico?

There will still be a huge black market even if everything is legalized, because the legal prices will be much higher than the black market. I used to have the same view as you on legalizing everything, but now I think it would be a complete disaster. People would still be committing crimes to afford the drugs and addiction would skyrocket.

How about the government go into the drug business and give away personal use quantities for free. Crime would drop and the cartels would lose a major customer base.
