How long before an AI photo makes the list?

…or even wins the contest

That's good stuff.

The cheetah and monkey is very evocative and somehow symbolic of our troubling times. IMO.

That might be the most profound nature photo I've ever seen.

That was also taken remotely.

Pretty sure that guy uses a regular Canon DSLR with a Camtraptions camera trigger.

Those are amazing images. The amount of work and luck it takes to capture images like that is difficult to understand.

I good friend was on a National Geographic photo contest jury. All finalists had to submit original digital files to determine whether they were photoshopped images. They disqualified dozens of potential winners to get a true set of finalists. Shots of this caliber are very rare.

Pics are great, but how many of these were photographed love by a person and not a tripod with a motion detector?

And does that matter?

It definitely should matter IMO. I do think there should be some reward for each though, but there’s a very distinct difference between physically snapping a picture and utilizing automated cameras (trail cameras, motion triggered, etc).

I also think there should be different categories of touched up vs. untouched pics.

Guy that took that photo committed suicide not long after that.

… Despite knowing that Cheetah Johnson had killed before, the Kenyan DA let her go, fully knowing she would kill again. It’s a jungle out there and you don’t monkey around with Cheetah.

Yeah, anyone can set up a high-end game cam and acquire thousands of pics without even being there.
