I don't know why people find it difficult to believe. Just look at how many prescription medications people are on. Hell, I can think of a handful at work that blurt out they're on adderall, lexapro, or some SSRI. The days of coping with life without drugs are pretty much over.

Odd that is the way you went with it but it brings up a point I've made in the past. My wife has dealt with fibromyalgia for 8 years or so and in the very beginning they thru every sort of opioid and anti depressant at her that you can think of. Some of the pills were directly for the fibromyalgia, some were for the nausea caused by those pills, some for the insomnia and anxiety they caused. It was an endless loop that pretty much left her bed ridden and unable to work. But then they legalized medical marijuana back when we still lived in Florida and her life changed. She was able to stop using the prescriptions and used certain sorts of MJ that masked the pain but left her the ability to live her life in a productive manner. Fibromyalgia is debilitating, it isn't something a person can just deal with without some sort of help, and prescriptions did nothing to help.

I think far too many people think all weed leaves a person stoned out and unproductive. It has had quite a different impact on her, plus a lot of my fellow Vets who also were in the same boat have had their lives changed due to MJ.

Nah, not a fan of nannyism. My neighbor isn't my responsibility, neither is "society."

Education isn’t nannyism. Maybe society would be better if it wasn’t filled with people who clearly enjoy being a selfish a-hole like you. Im sure you neighbors do hate you if you are anything like this in real life.

Weed has been mischaracterized since the 60s and it has stuck in a lot of peoples minds. Just like "red meat is bad for you"

The republicans chose poorly when it came to picking sides on this. But is that really a shock to anyone?

The GOP will be completely eradicated and no longer exist in my lifetime. Best you'll be able to get is some moderate dems to beat any of the old conservative drums.

Nobody's saying it is. Laws against weed are nannyism. Cut and dried.

"People might overdo it/might not research it" is NOT a sound argument for government to step in.

Not if one supports a free society.

Because Republicans are no longer conservative.

Conservativism means less laws and regulations, more freedom. Current republicans are basically 1960's Democrats.

Still a ways to go, though.

I'll say. This board is about as binary as it gets.

It's going to be an interesting thing to monitor over the next 5-10 years and see if States that legalized recreational marijuana begin shifting more Blue.

Ummm surprised anyone is wondering this in 2023, especially after seeing how CO has turned out and how the West Coast states have just kept spiraling down since they opened up this pandora's box.

Early adopter. As more states legalize, you'll see far less movement among users.

Political discourse in general has become that way, site notwithstanding.

You are replying to the end of my conversation so maybe you didn’t read my earlier posts. I have no problem with it being legal, all I’m saying is as a society we should put proper information out there before some poor, misinformed person screws up and eats an entire weed brownie and has a schizophrenic episode that they didnt know they were prone to.

You're a progressive in training. No one really cares about society, except weak people who require collective action.

Society frickin loathes you, dude. Stop being a cuck.

Nah. Let natural selection weed out idiots (pun intended).

It's not "society's" responsibility to do due diligence for adults. I don't have a problem with people educating themselves. People should do that anyways. In the meantime, though, it doesn't need to be done before repealing government overreach RE: weed.

Smell a rat when you find someone opposed to weed legalization who isn't also pushing equally as hard for the return of Prohibition.

I've been smoking weed on and off since 1977. I remember when the price of a lid quadrupled from $30 to $120 in 1981 when Reagan re-declared Nixon's War on Drugs. Not only had the price of weed gone up, but I couldn't even buy bongs at Peaches anymore. As the 80s wore on, I was told that Republicans were the party of liberty, and less government intrusion. That went entirely contrary to my personal experience. All of the Republicans I knew were for the War on Drugs but yet drank.

So when you say smell a rat when I see this hypocrisy, I'd say the Republican party is FULL of rats. I've never known any Republicans who smoked weed until quite recently. This is the main reason I could never get on board with the Republicans because while I supported their talk of less government intrusion, it's their walk of more government intrusion that belies their hypocrisy.

Both parties support more government intrusion. It's the very thing that allows them to maintain power.
