Sanderson has said in multiple youtube streams he doesn’t need tv/movie money so he can choose to be as picky as he wants to when chosen who/what to adapt. Sounds like Mistborn will be on the screen sooner rather than later. Enjoy the next rest of the books. Book 2 and 3 are up there with best books I’ve ever read.

Holy shite. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy.

Welcome to the Cosmere. Though it's not a trilogy... If you're not aware, Sanderson's Cosmere are books that take place on different planets in the same universe. As he releases more books, we find out more and more how these places/characters are interconnected.

Book 1 was great, and I know a lot of people love the whole series. For me, the more the “Cosmere” comes into play in the later books and the more time spent in Shadesmar (a place which still makes no sense to me), the less I’ve enjoyed them. The last one Rhythm of War was a struggle for me to get through. The Cosmere deep cuts in The Lost Metal were also the worst parts of that book, and completely unnecessary. JMO, I know I’m probably in the minority here.

I'm midway through the third book now. While it is great, it's not the best fiction I have read. Actually I still prefer Mistborn, and that first trilogy (haven't read the others yet) is actually my favorite fantasy series of all time. It's up there with favorite book(s) of all time for me.

I am loving the Stormlight journey though. I just wish Kaladin wasn't so morose all the time. He's too similar to Drizzt. He's a good character, but it gets a bit annoying at points

Way of Kings is also my favorite Fantasy book I've ever read. I'll probably re-read at end of year or early next year.

It's not a trilogy like others have said. It's supposed to be a 10 book saga split in two 5-book series. He's writing number 5 now, so hopefully it's out by the end of the year.

I read the first two based on this thread. It was fine but not exactly my favorite fantasy books. I don't really find myself caring enough to want to start the third. To each their own I guess.

Damn! I picked The Kingkiller Chronicles over The Way of the Kings. I’m definitely going to change direction now.

I believe this thread was originally a recommendation to read The Way of Kings. If so, thank you so much OP. I read The Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, and Edgedancer in the past month.

I've read the Way of Kings and am a quarter of the way through with Words of Radiance. I'm enjoying the hell out of them so far.

Last week my wife randomly asked me what a void bringer is. Apparently I was talking about them in my sleep.

I've read the Way of Kings and am halfway through Words of Radiance. Should I keep going in order or read some of the other books mentioned before continuing?

I just finished Words of Radiance.

Can't wait for the next.

"Not you son...."

and

"Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do"

both gave me chills.

ETA" honorable mention to "My father thinks that I'm a better man than him...well he's wrong"

I haven't really read the rest of this thread because I don't want anything unintentionally spoiled for me.

I'm about 300 pages from finishing the third Mistborn book - Hero of Ages. I have really enjoyed this journey so far, and I can't wait to see how Ruin is (possibly?) defeated.

I completed the first two books of this series. While ‘good’, I’m very disappointed and in my humble opinion, the series is quite overrated… I tried to finish oathbringer, but it felt like a job so I tapped out.

I've been staying away from this thread since I'm not caught up on all the Cosmere books, and I don't want anything spoiled.

I started the Cosmere with the first Stormlight book. I've read the second and third of that series. That was before I really understood that all of Sanderson's different book series tie into each other. So I've been reading through the Mistborn series - I'm currently on The Lost Metal - before re-reading Stormlight and getting to the newer books in that series.

Looking at the "Published Works" chart posted by the OP, it looks like there is also a Warbreaker series and an Elantris series. I assume I need to read through these also to get the full picture of the Cosmere.

I'm about a quarter of the way through Lost Metal, and there was a conversation between Marasi and Moonlight while they were driving the truck full of stolen goods. The Moonlight makes direct reference to Odium from Stormlight.

I don't remember Moonlight from the Stormlight books. Was she from a different series?

The biggest nugget in there for me is confirmation that it's Mistborn in active development for an adaptation. Many assumed it would be Mistbborn as it makes the most sense but this is the first official confirmation I've seen.

Also based on Sanderson's current plan, probably won't see Stormlight 6 for at least 6 years after Wind and Truth comes out next year. He plans to do Mistborn era 3 and Elantris sequels next. Though we should get another Stormlight novella (Rock's story) at some point.
