This, again, is what you don’t understand.

The “adjustment” isn’t the value of cash over time.

The “adjustment” is contributions in “today’s dollars.”

That is not the same thing.

It's nice to see our Communist lovin HHTM back in the game more often now.

I wonder who else he will want arrested to keep them out of office even though he admits that person did nothing wrong?

I bet it won't be Romney!

It's possible that I could have (and more than likely would have) earned interest on the amount had it been in my possession, so your analysis is incorrect.

Present value uses an assumed interest rate. Interest rates have varied widely over the course of the last 40 years.

What rate was assumed for this "study"?

Thats a fact.

They are all having to admit right now that Trump's tax plan worked. Now let him fix the rest of it.

Also cut pay on all Congress and senate

Considering all those fricks already make so much money on the side, this should be a "volunteer" position.

No pay for the Senate or House members.

No compare benefits paid vs what those people would have it was invested in the market.

It's a Ponzi scheme that doesn't even pay out well for those at the top.

One thing that Ponzi, Madoff and SBF did not have that the federal government has, the Federal Reserve.

That is the key difference between private and illegal ponzis and the legal federal government ponzi.

Republicans love losing. It's incredible. Democrats are so awful and still Republicans manage to make themselves look even more undesirable.

You guys should have 2/3rds of the house and 54 seats in the Senate right now. It's like watching two retards fight.

"Trump says he can fix this."
... what a crock! Making outrageous statements to try to get elected. Why didn't he fix it when he was in office, then?
It's no different than Healthcare, when he claimed he had a great plan to solve the healthcare problem, but could never articulate the plan, when asked over and over.

What would that same $1 be worth invested in conservative fund over 40 years? $7-$10?

The term 'the poor house' was used as a threat to small children but no such poor house existed in our town. I did see a few old people dying drunk in the gutter near Main Street with a tin cup and they were used as teaching tools when we walked by as children. "Don't end up like that.'

There was a HUGE pride in not taking charity no matter how poor you were.
We were extremely poor and devout Catholics. On Sunday we passed 'The Poor Box' which was a slot under a statue of Virgin Mary. Our parents gave bro and I each a quarter to put in the box.
When I was about 6 I asked my older brother 'Are there people in town poorer than us?'
Him: 'I've never seen any.'
It was then I realized our parents were trying to instill a pride in us to never accept charity.

This is what gets me. People will say how fiscally conservative etc and pat themselves on the back for it, but trying to reform social security to make it so that it doesn't go defunct you get lots of like you say, people whining that they were promised such and such so no reform! Even backing the retirement age back a couple years people freak out over it.

They adjusted for inflation, but not interest.

5% compounded interest per year takes 1 dollar and turns it into 7 over the course of 40 years.

I thought the same thing as you. Then a few years ago I saw this on the history channel.

Buy your own health insurance.

Stop relying on other men for something YOU should pay for.

So true. The Federal Reserve’s monetization of debt is actually itself little more than a Ponzi Scheme writ large.
