Extravaganza is at the Convention Center this year....

Logistics is everything....

Do a careful recon of parking lots/garages on the Tchop side of the dome....y'all don't want to be walking too far!!!

You are insane if you don't get a hotel room. Check in early, grab lunch, go back and let her chill before getting dressed and go to the event. Back to the hotel as soon as her feet start hurting or her head turns all the way around.

I 2nd this. If it were me I’d stay at the Marriott at 5he foot of the bridge and Uber in.

Call Garrison for your Tuxedo immediately so they can start making your suit now.

Garrison Custom Suits.

You can thank me the night of the extravaganza when the first bullet hits your chest.

PS park in the Hilton Hotel garage and get a room. The Causeway Police quadruple the force during Mardi Gras. Avoid the Harrahs lot, the Ricerwalk, and convention center parking lots.

A lot of the commercial buildings have public paid parking in an enclosed safe garage.

I would call some of the cruise ship lots. You maybe have to pay for multiple days but I’m looking right now, that’s only $90. I don’t how how strict they are about actually cruising or not.

100% get a hotel or don't go IMO. You are in for a very very very long night if you do not.

I agree but this just came about last night and the cheapest hotel room for 1 night within walking distance of the convention center is $800.

Last time we went, we stayed in a hotel in Metairie and ubered in. It is a little out of your way, but there's no way I'm risking parking in the city or having to sit in a couple hours of traffic with a pregnant wife.

Getting a decent hotel room this late in the game would be quite the task (even in Metairie). He'd be having to call hotels daily checking for cancelations.

That's a helluva wife if she's willing to go through with Extravaganza at 8 months pregnant. May have to plan a spa day or something for the wife, if she is driving back at 4 AM to the Northshore.

Don't take your truck. They target trucks looking for guns. Take another vehicle if you have one.

I just googled it and while a little pricey, there seems to be plenty of rooms available

ETA: In Metairie

DO NOT PARK there!!!!!!! The cruise ship passengers have been coming back to broken windows and stolen cars almost daily there. WWL TV even did a big story on it. No security or pedestrian traffic and quick access to I-10 for days on end has made this a perfect smash and grab parking lot.

There are plenty of hotel rooms available in the Quarter, CBD, and Warehouse District for Mardi Gras this year. Occupancy is around 83% right now.

Park your car in Metairie and Uber in. Surge pricing is cheaper than smashed windows. Why downvotes on this? Parking near the convention center for something like this is going to be a nightmare.

I would recommend parking your car at Oakwood mall on the Westbank. It’s safe, well lit, and in Jefferson Parish. The bridge won’t have any traffic on it, so you can probably Uber there in about 10 minutes.

Which ones? I would never take a cruise but their web site says they are patrolled. Julia St & Erato

DD means "dear daughter" in boomer online speak. I have no idea on this context.
