I don't think BK cut him. Just didn't want to deal with the punishments and a disciplinarian. Lots of guys like Nudie (and Ricks) could be great if they would only gain a little humility.

McGlothern is a better player imo

Ricks has talent but he’s mentally soft and doesn’t put in the extra work (which Saban found out quick)

To be fare try telling that to kids between the ages of 18- 22. That statement doesnt reign true until you have lived it a few times. If he fails in the NFL than that will be the first lesson.

Left LSU for Alabama (no banjo on knee) allegedly to win a natty.
Alabama loses to LSU.
No natty.

Has physical talent

But lacks the mentality and heart

Maybe he’ll figure it out in the next level

But the odds are against it

He'll sign a 6 month deal with The Dothan Gerbils for $63,517, with a signing bonus of a year's worth of Min-Wax (outdoor only). After 2 months, the team will try to pay him in bitcoin, triggering a lawsuit in which he is represented by some attorney whose nickname is "The Hammer".
While waiting for the trial, Ricks worries that the league will declare bankruptcy, and takes matters into his own hands by stealing cases of Icey Hot from the training room.
He is spotted by an elderly security guard, who runs him down from behind and tackles him.

This. He was going to start and likely be a 1st round pick no matter what LSU's record was, but he defected to Bama. All he had to do was stick around for the spring and fall.
