A Birmingham attorney and restaurant owner says that the federal government discriminated against his business because he is a white man, and he’s taking the argument to federal court.

quote:

Garden and Galley, LLC, has filed suit against the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), arguing that officials illegally discriminated against its white male owner when it prioritized women and the socially and economically disadvantaged in dispensing pandemic relief funds.

In the lawsuit, attorneys for Garden and Galley, LLC, argued that the SBA violated both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the U.S. Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause when it prioritized women and the socially and economically disadvantaged in disbursing the funds, which were allocated as part of the American Rescue Plan’s Restaurant Revitalization Fund.

Love seeing stories like this. Maybe the pendulum really is starting to swing back.

You can quote it a 3rd time and they will still have this case thrown out. No court has the balls to hear this in today’s climate.

If courts have affirmed affirmative action, I don't see how they will even consider hearing this.

This is the lawsuit I have been waiting for. As someone who works in government contracts, seeing how the government can prioritize one race or demo over another (economically disadvantaged businesses)...under the guise of "compelling governmental interest".

This needs to be upended.

I’d like for my son to apply for monies kindly provided by the united negro college fund.

Let’s see how that process goes.

Still open. Was owned or being run by the guy who had a couple of the better places in Huntsville, but I heard he is now out. Ate there recently and it didn’t seem as good.

Why you think Brittany Griner came home and Whelen is still in a Russian prison?

Just remember stuff like this every time reparations is brought up.

They have already been paid.

Kudos to Ch 42. This isn't their typical story. Not the typical "group" they try to advance.

My son attends a HBCU.

I asked him if he had asked for a minority scholarship.

He thought I was kidding.
