Piedmonte region of Italy. Some of the best wines and food in the world, white truffles and have a view like this.

My dad just moved to some little village in the Algarve. Looks pretty fricking sweet to me.

Uruguay. It is 1/4 the size of Texas with a population of only 3 million. 2 million live in the capital, which leaves the rest of the country full of land and opportunity… no the economy is pretty shite but if I had a way to make money and didn’t mind being away from family I would buy a cattle ranch and live in the “interior” of the country.

It also has beaches and fancy communities of rich people if that’s what you’re into.

It was once the Switzerland of the americas… neutral and small with a free market. Socialists have helped ruin the economy but economy aside it is the best place to live in Latin America… and maybe even better than the US.

If we are going with micro states, Andorra, San Marino, and obviously Monte Carlo would all be pretty rad. Andorran skiing looks gnarly.

Generally speaking, I wish the culture here in the U.S. placed more a focus on these things. Instead, we choose to work ourselves to death to acquire meaningless possessions or working for people who could care less about your wellbeing, while becoming stressed, depressed, mentally and physically unhealthy, then end up dying prematurely from a stroke, heart attack, etc.

It was sounding really good, until I got to the part where it started sounding like the US.

Uruguay is regarded as one of the most socially progressive countries in Latin America.[16] It ranks high on global measures of personal rights, tolerance, and inclusion issues,[17] including its acceptance of the LGBT community.[18] The country has legalized cannabis, same-sex marriage, prostitution and abortion. Uruguay is a founding member of the United Nations, OAS, and Mercosur.

Und fick dich auch.

Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia, BeNeLux, UK, Ireland, Canada, Japan.

Used to be New Zealand & Australia, still there in a pinch.

Idaho, Montana, Utah, Eastern Oregon, and Eastern Washington State domestically.

A couple places that come to mind...Provence, more specifically one of the small villages in the Luberon. Also Basque Country guzzling down Txakolina wine, barnacles and wonderful cuisine sounds nice. Those places seem to have life pretty well figured out. I didn't want to leave either place. Portugal is much more realistic and accessible for US citizens, so maybe the Azores.

Doesn’t matter. Everything gets to be routine.

Latin America is socially conservative, so it's not hard to be socially progressive compared to them, or be the most socially progressive country. They are definitely less in-your-face-progressive than America is though.

It’s beautiful and inexpensive but not safe. As someone who lives in a place that can often be unsafe, I can tell you it matters big time when it comes to peace of mind. One of multiple reasons I’m likely leaving in the not too distant future.

San Francisco. It's cheap, clean, and the people are genuine and nice.

Switzerland

Switzerland is one of my favorite places but I wouldn't pick Zermatt to live even with those views. Not a single private car in the town and you have to take a train to get anywhere else. I appreciate public transportation but I don't like it to be the only option. Living on either the Swiss or French side of Lake Geneva would be incredible though.

The Castello area of Venice is cheap, no cars, no crime, and very little tourists make it out that way. Of course I would suggest living on the second floor.

gotta move away from ancestral lands, family, and friends so you can maybe afford to live in a 3.5 sq ft house and buy a z71 & a Tahoe

Perusing foreign real estate, I found a very nice 7,100 square foot house on the beach outside of Cartagena, Colombia for $263K. With the Colombian peso at all-time lows, you can live like a king there. To be the financial elite (top 1%) takes $57K USD.
