i wonder if TBS will get the rights to play this on repeat in 30 years.

I’ll watch it for nostalgia.
It’s weird/jarring seeing Ralphie so old (and kid of creepy looking)
Doesn’t feel right not having a Jean Shepard/ish voice actor doing the voice over since that was supposed to be “adult Ralphie” anyway. Hearing such a different inner monologue voice really took me out of it quickly

Why in the hell would they not have Melinda Dillon playing his mom. Instead they get the lady from Airplane!.

I want it to be good but it’s gonna be arse. Why is the bully wearing the same outfit from 40 to 50 years ago.
Edit: I watched it again and it looks like a daydream or flashback so actually makes sense the bully would be dressed how he remembers him

I get that Melinda Dillon might not have been interested/able to play Ralphie's mom, but I'd just as soon had them not have a mom in this one rather than swap her out...just so jarring.

Ralphie's daughter - "When it's just us decorating it kind of feels like child labor."
Ralphie's wife - "Honey it's not labor if we don't pay you."

Them making a toast to The Old Man already got me a little choked up.

I'm in. It likely won't live up to the original, but I think it will be worth watching with the kids.

Stumbled across the trailer this evening. I am definitely in.

Actually didn't look terrible

We watched it tonight and loved it. Perfect tone, didn’t try to outdo the original. Flick’s bar, the Bumpases, the toxic air you could taste… they paid respect to the books as well as the original film. Drunk, old Julie Haggerty had us laughing.
