I apologize, not sure why I put that but yes the full still remains a 9.95 start value

I know the NCAA was adjusting some of the scoring/regulations pretty soon as well, specifically routine requirements for 10.0 start values. Some skills on bars, beam and floor are expected to get downgraded and some upgraded in the near future

With the exception of vault, the current code gives zero incentive to do extra difficulty on the other events. Everyone is essentially starting at a 10 doing bare minimum. It would be refreshing for NCAA to tweak some things to get more variety back in routines

Hope they do. We've had some really hard and fun floor routines. Then certain programs would only do two passes and start out at 10 values. They should get rewarded for harder over all routines.

Bryce is capable of a double or am I misremembering?

She used to train at JO level but has mostly focused on the full at LSU. I suppose it’s still an option to upgrade.

If we put a full in, and she doesn’t upgrade, I’m on the Bryce train. She seemed to be more consistent than kj and have a bigger vault than Elena. I would say haleigh, kiya, and Aleah are locks. The other spots up for grabs to me would be chase, Jillian, and cammy. I know there will be a lot of rotation this year but that would be my post season.

I’m curious now that kiya has already torn the acl if they’ll still train her the way they have in the past years.

Don't forget Savannah! She competed an awesome Y 1.5 so she is a strong possibility for vault as well.

Vault has a lot of options. It’ll be interesting to see how Cammy and the transfers look coming off their injuries. All have high scoring potential when they hit

I think of all the events vault (next to floor) is the most competitive.

This is exactly why I think there is no way that Schoenherr isn't in vault and bars. Her vault landings were have historically been more ialed in than most everyone could manage including at the end of the season. Her bars routinely scores a 9.9+ regardless of where she is in the lineup.

To continue on in the lineup discussion, I think the best case vault is:

Schoenherr, Brock, Finnegan, Johnson, Bryant + KJ with a double or some combination of Hall/Hoffman. Schennikova can be used for depth, but shouldn't be used at the end of the season because she just can't dial in on the landing (reminds me a bit of the frustration of Sarah Edwards inability to land her 1.5 (sticking once maybe in 5 years?) - though I loved her as a gymnast).

Moving on to bars:

Jeffrey, Tatum/Cowan/Dunne, Finnegan with another dismount, Schoenherr, Bryant, + Maybe a freshman (obviously not in the anchor, but just to fill out the 6th spot). Johnson can obviously go here, but honestly her bars don't score that well (I think it may be due to a tenth off for the hand adjustment she does into her bail, because everything is generally perfect). Moving down the lineup may help a bit, but if there is a better option I would be open to that as well.

Something is really wrong if we aren't using Schoenherr on at least vault and bars for sure.

For bars I really think outside of adding Schoenherr, a good constructed bars for either Drayton, Coen, or Konnor would make a significant difference in the scoring potential of that lineup

If there is a place for a true freshman to make their mark early and break into a lineup, bars is the place IMO

Bars was one of our weakest events (#9 nationally) next to beam (#10 nationally)

We got to change to Aleah’s dismount because it’s a 9.9 routine with a consistent dismount. Let’s give her something a little more simple than her current dismount

CMG is officially an assistant coach.

How does that work? Why can be she be one now but couldn’t before? Did rules change on the amount of coaches allowed? I’m not aware of anyone leaving.

I didn't know this, but evidently the NCAA did eliminate volunteer coaches and raised the set limit from 3 to 4 coaches.

Here is an article about it:

Thanks, I think that is a great rule change. Pay your coaches!

She also was starting to dial in on her beam routine and I absolutely loved it. It has the ability to score really high, but it is risky - I do hope we get to see it again though.

She definitely has the coolest mount of anybody in the country That handstand was pretty impressive. Not sure how much that adds to her score though.

So it doesn't add anything, per se, score wise; I meant she has the technique and form to score well on beam, however, her routine has very risky elements in it that depend solely on hard connections, etc., so there might be safer options given the depth we have this year. But it is a very dynamic and interesting routine so I hope we get to see it again!
