First few

I can’t really recall my first CD. The first album I bought was Sgt. Pepper’s. My college roommate got a CD player for Christmas in 1984 and the Beatles weren’t out on CD yet. I bought my first CD sometime in early ‘85. Rush 2112 or Moving Pictures might have been possibilities but I already had those on vinyl so probably not. I had Signals and Grace Under Pressure on cassette. Signals is a possibility. Even though I got a lot of mileage from Grace Under Pressure on my Walkman, that was the last Rush album I was in to and after that we parted ways.
My first concert was Rush on the Signals tour so it’s very possible that that was my first CD purchase. It’s tough to say for sure. Back then new music was coming out on CD but it took awhile for older albums to get released digitally. Every Tuesday there would be a new batch of older or “classic” albums getting released. It depended on what was available and what I as a poor college student could afford (which wasn’t much).
The one album I know absolutely for sure that I bought on CD when it first came out was Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits. If that wasn’t my first CD purchase then it was close. And that’s a great album.
I’m pretty sure the last CD I bought was The Complete Kid Ory Columbia Session 1946 which I picked up used from Half Price Books.
