Josh Pate is probably the best to call balls and strikes about college football.u don't have to agree with him,but he is worth listening to

Well, LSU definitely will know it’s pecking order in that game and will be a good barometer for where they are at in the SEC.

I believe everyone overreacted with that kind of loss. My biggest complaint with Kelly was how long it took to adjust/the lack of adjustments on offense and defense.

Not entirely on him but these are his coordinators.

I will get nervous if this team doesn't show improvement through the season. We all know this is a team with holes

Everybody plays Mike Leach by rushing 3 and dropping 8. Ed tried that power rush and we gave up 600+ passing...

ETA, I just looked up Will Roger's stats. He has impressive passing stats after playing Memphis but he is not the type of QB like Travis that will improvise with is feet. If LSU gets the same pressure on Mississippi State as they got on Travis, Will Rogers is going down.

Rogers isn’t mobile at all and Memphis is also down this year. They will still be a tough test for our zone d. House needs to get the Safeties and LBs on the same page and more comfortable so they can diagnose what’s happening and break to the ball to close space faster.

What will hopefully be in our favor is that State’s run game is just zone read handoffs out of the shotgun. They likely won’t have a lot of success with that against our DL. Also, as smart and accurate as Rogers is, he doesn’t like moving in the pocket and he doesn’t have much of a deep ball. If we can get the same pressure on him that we did on Travis, he could struggle.

Excellent take by Josh Pate. Respect to him for not being afraid to call things like they are where these players are concerned.

I heard this take the first time he gave it in July. I like everyone else hoped they would play up a little. I’m thinking his opinion has aged the best and the true dynamics of a team dealing with this change.

You are right Bama last year lost to Texas A&M that was playing with a backup QB already with losses to Arkansas and Mississippi state. Georgia lost to that same Bama team that wasn’t all that great in the SEC championship then made the adjustments in order to beat em in the national title. Point is it’s all about adjustments. PS: Bama will lose to either Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn, maybe Tennessee but I doubt it, and Georgia (if gumps can win the west). FYI it’s 1 or maybe like 3 of these teams that will beat that crimson team out east not all of them that I listed.
