quote:I love Vienna.
Are you going to Vienna? That is my favorite city east of France and Italy.
It's one of those places that on my deathbed I'll have been happy I saw and experienced.
Salzburg: the Mozart Museum, Sound of Music sites, all the Churches, monasteries, Hellbrunn Palace, eat local, drink local.
It's a good place to be.

Does the board think two days in Salzburg with one day in Munich is a better option for a three day leg or two in Salzburg and one in Hallstatt? Hallstatt seems somewhat difficult to reach by train from Vienna or Salzburg but looks amazing.

Need a little more info.
Where are you coming from/going to after Salzburg, mode of travel, etc?
I haven't been to Halstatt, most people say that it is a day trip destination. Very quiet town after tourists leave, which would suit me fine.

We will be coming from Vienna then leaving to go to portugal/back To US. Won’t have a car so the trip to Hallstatt would have to be via bus on a day trip or train.

ETA: missed the above post
If I have 3 days, I’m skipping Hallstatt unless I 100% know I’d be going back to Munich for a few days at some point in the future. It’s 2 hours each way from Salzburg to Hallstatt by train, on top of the travel time you spent getting to Salzburg.
If I’ve got 3 days in Bavaria, I’d do two in Munich and one in Salzburg.
