As bad as Ian Book is, he is still not the worst QB to appear in a Saints uniform.

His job right now is just to be cannon fodder for the other QBs. Take hits in preseason that the others don’t have to take. After he’s done being abused, then cut him. But not before.

Was McPherson the one that lined up behind the guard and called for the snap?

Yep.

Led to some hilarious farks. Now I have to see if I can still find them anywhere.

Misremembered history. Tolliver was a blah backup type and Hobert was a legitimate starter who could never stay healthy. Both were miles better than Ian Book.

This is also the second preseason for a very late pick QB. People are panicking like he's the backup. If he sees the field, the season is already over. Relax.

No one is panicking. They're lamenting a bad 4th round pick.

Yeah he sucked his first couple of series but he seemed to play better the rest of the game. I know I made some bad comments about him but you can't expect Joe Montana from a 3rd string young QB..

I knew it was a bad pick at the time. Garrett Grayson was the one who fooled me.

Most of the guys mentioned above were starters. If you want to compare Book to other backups we could make an endless list of terrible quarterbacks.

Fourcade

We lost a close game to the 49er’s in the biggest QB mismatch I ever saw- Montana versus Fourcade.

He won his last three games in '89, one was in a blizzard in Buffalo..

Theres no point in keeping him on the roster after today.

i wouldnt go that far. he did ok after he settled down, lets see what happens in the next game before saying he is trash.

my concern with him is the size issue, he is short like brees was and that causes him to have high throws at times and that resulted in the interception and could have caused a second one later in the game. i would feel better if they had not drafted a QB with height issues because thats something that you can never fix.

at least dalton shows he will be a great starting QB for this team so that should be a big relief to many in that when, not if, winston has to be benched, dalton can take us to the playoffs and hopefully to a SB. he is not a QB to carry the team, but with a good team he can lead them all the way to the big game

You must be pretty young. Saints have had soon pretty bad ones since they joined the league! Not prepared to call him worse of all after one preseason game!

Clearly, you are young, but Imagine a situation where the starter JW goes down...Losing already... Play the winless Falcons next week.. No reason to risk a good back up... Play Book.

But just to be fair, Book didn't fumble on the 1, and didn't call, nor play on defense...including the last drive.

Tolliver was actually a pretty good QB had the misfortune to play on some really bad teams. He had a cannon for an arm. Hobert could show flashes, but he was duuuuuuuummmb. At Washington he would have to get benched in the middle of games because he would get them up big and then do something stupid or put the lead in jeopardy and the Don James I think would have to bring in Burnell to save the win.

Had a friend who did play golf with him though at Belle Terre.....said he was a baw. Country boy from Washington State, made rednecks seem city like
