Kucherak is gonna be a dude. If you watch his pre-swing, load, swing, and finish it looks a lot like that Crews guy. In no way am I saying he's there, obviously.

Yeah Kucherak is gonna be a dude. Ball jumps off the bat.

Where’s his best fit in the field?

Discussing Kucherak’s speed made me look up the incoming freshmen’s SBs in summer league.

LSU commits went a combined 40 of 42 this summer:

Roellig 10/10 (5th most in the league)
Mitchell 9/10 (6th most in the league)
Cooley 6/7
Kucherak 6/6
Dale 4/4
Thompson 3/3
Larson 2/2

Probably not facing top of the line catchers, but encouraging none the less.

Mic Paul was 21-23 and Ruddell was 17-19 stealing bases.

Jay mentioned Paul as a 6.5 runner and Guidry as 6.36.

I'm curious what Frey is?

Not sure about his 60 time but I recall seeing his 40 time as a 4.7. Don't remember where but it was likely from football recruiting on hudl or something like that.

I'm a little surprised that Guidry is faster than Paul.

Jay spoke very highly of Mic Paul coming into last season, and he got him in almost every game for a month or so. The OF competition is just so damn deep.

Guidry is a good bit taller. Alot of times the shorter guys look way faster than they really are, and the taller guys are deceiving in the opposite direction.

I wonder who's the faster of Guidry and Kling.

I'm getting Guidry's time from his profile. It's not always 100% accurate. Paul's time, I'm getting from a Jay Johnson interview and it's not always 100% either lol. They both can move.

4.7 40yd on Frey seems about right. Good speed but not a burner.

I think Kling is the fastest guy on the team, that includes last year.

Zeb can run. I think he's a 6.4-6.5. I also think Bingham can run. Pearson is another one of those guys, like Frey, that isn't really a burner but gets going really well at times. I think Pearson went 6.5ish as a high schooler.

ETA: Running the 40 and 60 are both somewhat of a skill. You definitely need to be fast to get a good time, but you can train for it. The same can be said for running bases. A somewhat slower player can get 1st to 3rd quicker than a "faster" player or steal a base more effectively through reads/fundamentals/etc.

I'd imagine a 4.7 for Frey at his size would translate into a pretty good 60 time. With his size it likely takes him a little bit to get going at the start. He may not be super fast, but for his size and power the speed will get him into plenty double situations and possibly be able to stretch some into triples that guys his size typically can't do.

Frey and Kling both remind me in ways of Jordan Beck, who absolutely torched high A ball this season.

Frey’s got those long strides to go with his unusual quickness for that size. Good combo

Not sure if it was mentioned but we have a bunch of commitments playing on ESPNU right now in the Baseball Factory All American game. Evens just struck out the side in the third inning including Arrambide and Fountain. His team is up 5-1, I’ll look for a box score to see what the others have done.

ETA: Players in the game are
Evans
Serna
Griffin
Arrambide
Victorian
Fountain
Ryan

I know it’s the angle but Griffin looks like everyone’s big brother
