I'm sorry to have offended anyone that thinks Holman is a Saturday or Sunday arm.

Not offended by any means. I love these discussions. I learn a lot about baseball from this thread and seeing things from all perspectives only helps with that.
The back and forth is fun and honestly all we have right now being so far from the season starting

Summer stats for Collegiate Team USA: Chinese-Taipai: 3IP 5K/1BB 3H 0R 0ER Japan: 5IP 10K/1BB 2H 0R 0ER No other pitcher on team USA had those type of numbers against Chinese-Taipai and Japan.

Admittedly I don’t know much about the level of competition on those teams but that sounds very good. I wasn’t aware of that. I was only comparing what we know about him, so far, that will directly correlate to what he is going to see.

For all we know he could end up being the best starter in the SEC. I don’t think so but I would be happy to be wrong.

I’m aware of a couple of the arms that might start around the SEC and I am hopeful that he could play to that level. What I do know is we are in good hands with Jay so he will figure something out regardless of who the Friday night guy is.

Just for perspective he was the best pitcher in the 2 weeks they played those games. That is with guys like Hagan Smith and Drew Beam on that team.

From what the D1 baseball guys talked about, Chinese-Taipei is more of a mid major type talent team. Like a Coastal Carolina or ECU type. Japan they said had more talent and would have been a team who could have competed with or easily won the CWS. Japan did take the 5 game series from team USA, so they apparently are pretty good. So for Holman to go 5IP and 10K is impressive and says he has the stuff for Friday night. Similar to Hurd, I think it will depend on who will be the most consistent with their stuff.

Jobert made his MILB debut in Low A for the Palm Beach Cardinals. He tripled in his first at bat in some Tiger on Tiger crime. Landon Marceaux was the pitcher for the St Lucie Mets that Jobert got the hit off of.

Holman is a top 50 prospect without the high spin rate and wipe out stuff that people on here like to think about him without having watched him. He's a dude. For the record, you don't strike out 10 of 15 Japanese hitters without wipe out stuff.

Agreed. We seem to be on the same page.

Just need some commitment confirmation soon at this point.

Well I stand corrected. Maybe that’s not entirely surprising given that he did dominate in 5/9 sec games. If he can be consistent then I can see what you are saying

He was 16th in conference ERA, a run better than someone like ty Floyd. I think Fri starter designation is rather meaningless but in the traditional sense think he is more of a SP2 Saturday guy that might have to be a Friday guy if Hurd doesn’t keep improving.

Hurd looked to be turning the corner in post season play.

it’s not Skenes but they should be a great 1 2 punch

With Soto signing for slot and assuming Walker Jenkins signs for at least slot, the most the Twins could offer Larson is $871,780.

That’s mid-3rd round money.
Wonder if he would take that?

I really want Larson, but he doesn’t have hardly any LSU stuff in his Twitter likes or RT. I feel like he’s been checked out of going to college for a while. Any money is probably gonna take him.

New article from Zack Nagy of SI on Luke Holman recruitment update. Sounds like he isn’t visiting Auburn after all.

I love that. I thought Auburn would be a player for him if he made it there. Sounds like a Tennessee-LSU race, as expected.
