Could’ve said that this point in time about a lot of guys. Get them on board and see what happens. Never hurts to have the top players committed.

I sure did read that wrong lol based on his fathers Twitter it would seem it’s a LSU, A&M, Texas battle for him.

Just looking at some of the players we have committed and Ryan Kucherak is listed as a shortstop but plays on the same HS team as Roch Cholowsky, who is the son of a Dodgers scout and expected 1st rounder that starts at shortstop for them. The same HS just had another 2023 SS commit to New Mexico. They have a 2023 kid listed at 3B committed somewhere as well. And they have a 2024 SS committed to Arizona.

Some of these schools just load up on talent. It's crazy. This is Hamilton HS in Arizona that produced some big leaguers and recently Brock Selvidge.

I don't think this is talked about enough, it's easy to argue that a mid-major farm system for national powers like LSU isn't healthy for the sport as a whole. I kinda like the occasional rise of a Fresno State or Coastal Carolina, and if that element goes away entirely I think something positive is getting lost

Agreed. You're already starting to see it happen. Fullerton in 2017 is the last non Power 5 school to make the CWS.

On Sunday at 1pm there will be a double header at LSU between BRCC and the Dodgers Scout Team, which I believe is the highest age group of the Knights teams as they prepare for Jupiter.

Not sure who is all on the roster but I think it's a bunch of guys committed or being recruited to play in college.

He pitched against Nunez CC recently. Not sure how that lines up schedule wise.

I like these kinds of matchups for the HS teams, and it's not bad for the JUCO kids either. I especially like that LSU hosts stuff like this.

With the trackman turned on, you never know if you might find a hidden gem or a late pop up guy.

ETA: Also, unrelated to this, ESPN+ has been showing JUCO football games this season per an agreement with the NJCAA. I'm hoping that carries over to baseball this spring. We seem to be evaluating a ton of JUCO guys right now. Mostly pitchers, especially guys that popped up in the NM-TX All Star game over the weekend, but there are a few position guys as well.

i dont think his father has really posted anything leaning any which way or even that he likes any particular school, more just retweeted players committing to certain schools.

in the end, i dont think it matters at the current rate because he will be a top 20 draft pick more than likely.

but i do like that the family is waiting and taking their time. he will only be a junior this year.

If more kids and families took this approach, we'd see fewer decommitments and potentially fewer transfers as well.

I think a big part of the recruiting process is finding fit. And fit isn't exclusive to the baseball program. Campus, academic, social, plus other things should all have a weighting in the decision because all have a weighting in the experience. In college basketball specifically, where players have been treated like commodities for longer than the other sports, I think if kids focused more on the recruiting process more than just going to the highest level team offering the most, the transfer thing would calm down a bit.

There is at least a couple uncommitted guys on that list I hope we pull. And some guys committed elsewhere I'd like to pull as well.

I'd keep an eye on right-handed pitcher Hiro Wyatt from the Northeast. Chris Archer-like arm whip. I see he has reopened his recruitment after initially committing to Duke.

UNO has never developed freshmen. They take a few in and a handful will stay past their first year. Dean and his recruiting coordinator and much more interested in transfers. They run a very unorganized program when it comes to practices and have no interst in development

Some individual players I find interesting on those teams (none are being recruited by LSU that I'm aware of):

LSUE:
Patrick Vienne - P
Owen Schexnaydre - P
Nick Duplechain - INF
Connor Benge - P
Dawson Willis - INF

Delgado:
Bryce Gauthier - OF
Turner Toms - P

Chipola:
Jesus Pena - INF

I know there are likely other prospects on Chipola, but I don't know a lot about them yet. That panhandle conference with NWF, Gulf Coast, Chipola, and Pensacola State is absolutely loaded with talent.

I don't know anything about Coastal Alabama North. They have some guys from Louisiana but I'm not familiar with the names.

There's a couple local kids. I've watched Pierre, Shelly and Zahn over the years. Known Pierre for a long time.

Good kids where JC can help get them to a smaller D1 IMO.

Bryce Gauthier visited LSU at least once as a junior. It was weird, though. He visited with Mmhat, BM's senior QB at the time that ended up at Tulane, so it was hard to really tell what was going on. Gauthier was also not too much at the time, but hit 3 hole his entire senior year at BM after that. He had a nice season.

I've seen Gauthier play alot. He's sneaky skilled. He doesn't flash alot but he has it. Not a big kid, very timid player. BM had an OF last year that tied for BA in the Catholic League, total opposite of Gauthier in the sense that this kid flashed alot. LSU still didn't sniff that kid, and I get it. They'll both prob start for Delgado this year and hit .350 with some juice.
