They aren't actively tanking, but they also built the roster of a team who would be actively tanking and likely won't part with their only assets to change that roster.

A lot of people had pegged him as being mentally weak along with blaming the NO market for a lot of his issues.

Him being in LA has shone a spotlight on how mentally and physically fragile he is and he still isn’t a big sponsorship target outside his douche flavored ruffles.

he has zero charisma, zero leadership skills, his game hasn’t progressed at all and he’s emotionally and mentally immature.

seriously, name a worse situation he could be in than the one he is in now

Same team but with no LeBron and no other supporting talent.

I think it’s worse with lebron and all the attention he gets. If Davis were a hornet or a magic nobody would give a shite

If he were on a small market team, they would blame the team. Like they did with us.

Him failing on a big stage means they will turn on him.

In a S&T? Otherwise wouldn't cap holds limit them from signing that big of a deal?

We want Wemby, but getting lost in all this dreaming is our chances of landing Scoot are skyrocketing as well.

S&T is possible.

They will have $35m in straight cap space but will have holds of the minimum for like 12 spots.

exactly. So him being on the shitty lakers is his worst possible situation and lebron being there makes it so much worse

We need to be looking at the entire top 5-10 prospects.

We obviously keep it if top two. If lower, we need to see if there is a talent we see a lot in or if we think we can get better assets by flipping the pick.

its going to be no worse than 8 and more likely top 5.
if you are gm and you can't see the talent quit now before another #4 for the novice athlete who couldn't start in college and the speedy teeny Pg.

the memphis grizzlies and gsw manage to choose actual basketball players deep in the draft. is it luck?

I’m looking at tax implications, development, and fit.

If we are paying a huge amount of money for someone who won’t get minutes for us because of our depth, kicking the pick down the road for multiple future firsts is a possibility.

Trying not to repeat the mistakes of the 2004 Pistons who took Darko over Bosh, Wade, and Melo OR flipping the pick to someone who valued those players.

Given the composition of the Pistons squad, few players they could have taken would have gotten a lot of minutes. And the explicitly passed on Melo because they asked him if he would rather stuff stats on a loser or win a ring and he said stuff stats.

Will there be great talent between 3-10? Chances say yes.

Will they be a good fit for us and develop properly before we have to pay them? That’s the problem given our depth.

This morning, 538's computer model has the Lakers finishing at 31-51, with the league's sixth-worst record (behind the Rockets, Magic, Pistons, Thunder, and Kings). If that were to play out, we'd have a 37% chance at a top-4 pick, but there's also a 50% chance of picking 7th or 8th.

If we're being reasonable, then we should simply be expecting a top-8 pick.

CJ and JV won't be around forever, especially not at their current talent levels. Our goal should be to replace them. Maybe Jose or Dyson can eventually be our replacement for CJ -- we'll see. But we definitely need a replacement for JV sooner rather than later. If we were to get Wembanyama, we would obviously have it, but I don't know if there are other big men in the top-ten of most mocks this year.

If we don't get Wembanyama, then we may want to look at trading our pick for a big, and/or trading back in the draft to draft a big in a more appropriate slot.

I'm starting to think we could get 3 top 10 picks in a row out of this. If they are this bad this year, is anyone going to want to come to the Lakers next year? Why would Kyrie go to a non playoff team? LeBron and AD will be another year older and worn down. There's probably no trade worth the Laker's picks with every team overcharging them.

I feel like we've already won the bet on their bad future outcomes with Dyson, but it looks like we might be about to hit the parlay.

A bunch of Lebron stans out there are thinking everyone is picking on him and no one else got treated this way.

Everyone seems to forget Kobes last few years. They werent great.
