Around March 15, 11 of 13 players were in the portal, or about to be, and the other 2 entered the NBA draft. Things were looking very bleak for the upcoming season.

Fast forward 2 months - McMahon and staff got the backcourt of a 30-3 Murray State as well as one of the best 4/5 players in the country in KJ Williams; Coleman from
NWestern, Hays and Fountain from
NC State and MSU and then a solid 4 star in Reed and a 5 star in Ward; retained Wilkinson and Justice Williams and then the addition of Adam Miller this week…. The Icing on the cake for a job well done for McMahon and staff.

One more scholarship available…. Need a rim protector / force inside to help KJ.

Man o man. I’m excited about this upcoming season. McMahon runs an up tempo & in your face style basketball and actually runs an offense.

Can we be better than we were last year ???

Right now I think we will be better. Add Phillips and we'll be noticeably better.

And I was a Wade guy. I loved what he had set up for next year. It's valid to say had it all not fallen apart that team would have been better than what McMahon is building, but on the other hand he's at least gotten it to a close comparison in only a couple of months.

KJ was not one of the top 4/5 players in the country. Glad we got him, but this is the kind of stuff that leads to people melting because he isn’t averaging 18 and 10 a game. It’s Adam miller, not Andre miller.
This is a bubble team. They’ll probably be 18-20 wins. I’d need to see their schedule.
I’ll need to see what he can do in the future with recruiting. This year wasn’t close to normal, but with what he had handed to him. I think he has done great.

I get what you're saying but there is reason to be optimistic or dare I say excited...

I think this team could be better than last year. I don’t think it will be better than what lsu would have been if they kept Wade. They were going to be stacked. I love the job McMahon is doing though. I was a big Wade guy but McMahon has done great with the hand he was dealt

He's done a great job of building a competitive roster. But, he'll be tested as a coach. He's basically fielding a pickup team, and will have to make a cohesive unit in fairly short time in a conference that he's unfamiliar with. Good news is that several of these guys are veterans, some already in his system, so they won't be lacking leadership to help in the process.

6 downvotes??

I'd love to hear the rationale from the six of you. What's not to like?? I was a Wade guy and am objectively pleased at the such a promising roster rebuild. If you cant appreciate the job he's done under awful circumstances, then maybe you're not an LSU guy/gal

We were average in conference play last year. 10-8 gets it done. I’d bet the house on it.

And this is bad how? If we didn’t schedule a bunch of sorry teams the beginning of the year last year we would’ve been an 18-20 win team lol

It was a lot of fun before it all came crashing down. That unbeaten run was a lot of fun.

Has he signed anywhere yet?

It's hard to tell at this point in time. So much of the team is new.

Will next year’s team have a better defense than Wade’s last team, I think not.

. How can you say that, last year’s team defense was phenomenal.

I do not think this team is going to be as good as what we had going for us next year or the year after as a team and commits and or signed letters of intent. We had some major commits and was going to keep a lot of the previous team.

This team is coming together and I’m excited though. I was really excited about the class of marvel allen, julian phillips, yohan traore, Devon ree to see how they did with our current players, who will all be much better next year as sophomores.
