I just think of humans as population controllers. If we didn't exist then there would be a lot of all animals until the stronger animals start wiping out the lesser animals. If there were millions of lions and millions of tigers and they would then wipe out the population of several animals.
Then there would be a lot more mosquitoes that end up spreading more diseases and they could wipe out the population of a lot of animals to the point mosquitoes are the king of the Earth
