I wish I didn’t know what I know about our rulers.

So I am having a mental break right now.

I worked on a political campaign this past month, for a guy running for our seat for congress. He reflected the politics of our district, and mine pretty well. Good guy. I wrote some articles for him and sent to local papers, door knocked, and passed out flyers at polls for hours. I spent probably 30-35 hours volunteering and had a few beers with his campaign manager. We knew we wouldn’t win, just trying to get to the runoff.

In the end, the guy with the most money and a famous name got 60% in the primary and we got around 12%. It didn’t matter what he’d said in any debate, or anything else. We had a lot of volunteers but he had the internet ads. Money won. I knew it usually did (like 98% if the time) but it’s different when you are actually putting your time and energy into a campaign, only to see it fall because a few bundlers and PACs bought someone else. It’s a physical reaction of disgust.

I not only participated in my party precinct convention this year, I ran it as the chair. We voted on resolutions to push them up to the state senate district convention, but I now know none of that will go anywhere, because I’m not part of any of the local “cliques” of good ol boys who decide who gets on the local party committees. Technically I can just request to be on one, but they find ways to exclude you from the process.

So I’m having a personal crisis. No matter what I do, I’m impotent. Our democracy is a sham and we’re all living a lie. If Black Rock Capital decides it’s good for business to pull Grayson Billings from inactive reserve to send him to Ukraine to eat a bullet because freedom and democracy, well by god I’m going and there is nothing I get to say about it. Because they’re part of the nobility in this new techno-feudalism and I’m not and never will be.

I have no real say in who rules over me, and when I attempt to express this, I’m either a conspiracy theorist or just nuts. No one wants to believe our political system is a sham, so they don’t. They listen to their propaganda box every night, telling them what they want to hear, whether that’s boomers watching Fox or millennials watching Stephen Cobert, and I’m crazy because I know they’re all lying.

It’s all a giant joke and it’s be funny if the well being of billions of people didn’t hang on the decisions of about 200 billionaires and bank directors who are so very convinced of their own brilliance and moral rectitude. But I know the dark truth: it’s that the rulers of the world aren’t any smarter than the average person, they just believe they are. In reality, they’re monkeys playing with anthills, there is no final judgement, life is pain, and I just want to forget I have seen any of this.

I will never trust the US Government again, EVER!

The entire system is financially flawed.....and will forever be corrupt.

Sir, this is the Wendy's drive-thru...

j/k

I wish I knew what to say. I'm sure defeated and demoralized is what they want.

Which means you can't do or be that.

Endeavor to persevere.

Yep. Agree. And too many people also believe that about the rulers.

I felt the same way when I volunteered for the Ron Paul campaign. Americans are by and large a stupid and idiotic people. Most of us treat elections like a high school student council race: the most "popular" candidate who promises us the most stuff wins.

If you're seeking truth, peace and joy, you've misplaced your trust in the things of this world.

I encourage you to give God a chance.

I only suggest this to you because I have found the Truth in this world of chaos. I have found peace in this world of turmoil. I have found joy in the Lord, and it can't be shaken by circumstances of this world.

I pray that for you, brother.

My brother was a county campaign manager for an Alabama governor a few back - republican - he told my brother who was going to be on his state cabinet etc. and agenda. the day after he won - the Governor elect got told by a big wig good ole boy at Alabama power who was going to be on his cabinet and what his agenda was going to be.And that’s how it went.

My brother didn’t even go to the big party celebrating the win. It’s all a scam

Really opened my eyes to the bullshite political world/media. The Republicans treated him like a villain, and the media ignored him.

To the OP, I’m running for state rep, and my opponent raised 130,000 (for a position that pays $52k). I’m putting $10k into my campaign. And, I think I’m going to pull it off. So, underdogs CAN win in local elections imo. They simply have to have a resonating message and a savvy campaign.

Already in a good church and I’m very happy with my family. I’m just coming to grips that my community locally is what I have to care about and fight for, the rest of America can frick right off.

I was raised in this shite, and what happens gets much much worse on the inside.

Keep your head up. It can be frustrating, but you can't give up like many of us have.

The main issue is psychopaths and sociopaths gravitate to systems that allow them to do whatever they want, and it takes one to take one down.

Fortunately, they are starting to frick with the pockets of those psychopaths and sociopaths that didn't choose politics. If they alienate that group too much, we might have ourselves some sonic type fun.

Naw, bro. Be proud of what you and your candidate attempted to do.

Messaging power and name-recognition will always be part of the process.

Learn from mistakes, keep nose to the grindstone and live to fight another day.

Wise tree does not grow tall without losing branch or two.

OK- enough platitudes. Wife citing too many yoga scriptures in the background maybe. Good stuff.

The only real Truth in this evil world is found in the Bible.

I've got nothing else, because if you are looking for a person to fix the mess satan has created in this world, you are never going to find it.

Don’t fret brother, you put in effort which is way more than a lot of others have done.

I also helped on the campaign for a lady who is running against SLJ who has been in politics for 28 years. Pretty sure she has this race on lock.

Don’t call any politician in this country “ our rulers”. That gives them way to much credit not to mention politicians in this country want us to view them more like royalty rather than elected and serve in a position of leadership at our pleasure.

You're in the inactive reserve? Unless you are shooting for retirement (and thus a slave to the system you despise) then get out now.

Nothing is stopping you from picking up a rifle and defending our shores if it came to that. Until then, you are nothing but a tool, a number. And idk about you but ill be damned if I or my family goes to war in some shithole country just to line the pockets of the political class.

Good for you. Be persistent. IT will pay off. Maybe not this year or next year. It may take 10 years, but it will be worth it.
