And we are in NATO largely to stymie Russia. That doesn’t mean they define us as a nation.

I'm just amazed that some of you don't understand the simple fact that the U.S. is the King Kong of global affairs... and we have no choice in that (just in how we use that power).
We are the world's largest economy, have been since before the Civil War, and that's not going to change anytime soon, if ever... we also are the leading example of Democratic rule by the people that makes people all around the world aspire to and fight for the same.
