Russia Hit with Unexpected Headache from Oil Refinery Attacks

Russian workers are quitting their jobs at oil refineries en masse over safety fears amid a spate of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting President Vladimir Putin's energy infrastructure, according to a report.
A former employee at the Kuibyshev Refinery, which is one of the largest oil industry enterprises in the Samara region, and owned by Rosneft, the country's largest oil producer, said he and many others resigned after the facility was attacked by Ukrainian drones in late March.
The Kuibyshev refinery halted all production after it sustained damage in the attack, Reuters reported at the time, noting that around 14 percent of Russia's refining capacity had been shut down by drone attacks.
Ukraine has been attacking Russian energy infrastructure facilities to target Putin's oil industry, the cornerstone of his country's economy. Moscow depends on its oil exports and energy industry, which make up some 30 percent of the country's budget revenues and are crucial for the funding of the war in Ukraine. Newsweek has contacted Russia's Foreign Ministry for comment by email.

Depends a lot on who as to how bad this impacts refineries. Process unit operators are usually in blast resistant control rooms, then again it's Russia who DGAF. Times have changed a lot. They really don't go outside to check gauges or turn valves like the used to, though some of that is still performed manually.

All armored vehicles need anti-drone systems. I wonder what the survival rate of the crews was in those lost Bradleys.

All reports have been that the survival rate has been high. And the Bradleys have really kicked butt and destroyed lots of Russian armored vehicles.
At the time they were first given, Ukraine was more interested in Abrams tanks than Bradleys, but that would not be the case today.

Yes, and the Army leadership has kept Belarus out of the fighting. Hopefully Gulevich was dismissed as he was seen as a threat to Lukashenko politically and not as the primary obstacle to entry.
Big 'if', but if Gulevich has support from the security services and criminal gangs, this could get froggy for Lukashenko. We should watch Lukashenko's movements in the coming days to see what is what.

The Belgorod Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the explosion and damage on Razdobarkina street, Belgorod without identifying the cause. 30 houses and 10 cars were damaged, with five individuals requiring hospital care, illustrating the destructive power of the munition.
This is not an isolated incident. On 18 February a FAB-250 was reportedly released on Soloti in the Belgorod area which led to the evacuation of 150 residents. Media outlets suggest that such discharges are fairly common with 20 lost munitions accidentally dropped in the Belgorod region alone between March to April 2024.
These instances indicate Russia's continued inability to successfully employ their munitions on intended targets. Such errors have destructive and lethal consequences for the Russian population.
