I noticed they swapped out the daily "kidnapping children" with this now. Are there sources for this garbage?

Chaim "Bill" Kristol, this Institute for the Study of War, and the Washington Post.

Notice that none of these talking points ever make sense. Why TF would Russia start using chemical weapons NOW? It's just the usual "muh Russia, muh Hitler" nonsense to try and keep the dumbest Americans (many of whom post in this thread) supporting the grift.

Ukraine would accept peace on those terms if it got reparations and a half of the natural gas extracted from the offshore gas fields that would be split between the Ukrainian and Russian exclusive economic zones. However, Russia will never accept Ukraine joining NATO. So Trump will propose peace. Putin will reject and Trump will be forced to put up or shut up. At that point I expect him to put up and greatly increase the aid to Ukraine so Ukraine can win.

Continuing Trump's long history of standing up to Putin?

Nope... he'll say Ukraine was a Biden money-laundering operation and Putin is saving it.

I would guess they would be "recently retired" folks from other militaries around the world. I've noticed a fair amount of that within their ranks in the past. Are they short on Ukrainian pilots?

Yes, they're short of pilots who can fly the F-16.

5 F-16s won't make a huge change on the battlefield. 90? That would be a huge change, especially if Ukraine can get pilots to man them.

It seems like the "West" is committed to the strategy of Russian attrition. I think it's pretty awful, as it will lose thousands of Ukrainian lives unnecessarily, but if that's the strategy, commit to it.

Ukraine needs air supremacy to win a war of attrition in a meaningful way. 90 F-16s could grant them air supremacy.

I doubt it, but if they can freeze the lines and extract sufficient toll Russia would probably seriously engage in peace talks.

This is one of the main reasons the Russians launched their “special military campaign” in the first place. Putin looked at Biden and he saw a weak, corrupt, and feeble minded dolt and he knew he had nothing to worry about from the US as long as the Biden regime is in power.

Or was Trump supposed to pull the US out of NATO - as he wanted to do while in office but was held off by his cabinet - and Putin thought he'd have no pushback in invading Ukraine? Trump lost... Putin went ahead with it, anyway, because he felt it was his last chance to stop Ukraine from aligning with the EU and truly prospering and stoking opposition to him within Russia?

Anyone should be able to look at Obama's statements and conclude that he probably made some back-channel deal with Putin to ignore the invasion of Crimea and beyond in exchange for cooperation on the Iran nuclear deterrence deal, or at least signaled his cooperation by publicly saying "Ukraine is a concern for Russia, but it simply isn't for the US."

Who knows what Trump's reason is for placating Putin... but it is what he always does.

Because the Ukes are now dug in and russia is trying to flush them out. Not a new tactic.

Ihor, the commander of a Ukrainian reconnaissance team who is deployed near the frontline city of Chasiv Yar, in Donetsk region, said: “Nearly every position in our area of the front was getting one or two gas grenades dropped on them a day.”

He said that because of how embedded many Ukrainian troops are now it was difficult for the Russians to attack with conventional artillery or drones firing missiles, adding: “The only way for them to successfully attack us was with gas.”

According to him, the Russian army employs chemical weapons to cause panic and soldiers to get out of their fortifications, which allows the Russians to attack them with conventional weapons.

1. Crash the price of oil
2. Massive industrial output of war materials
3. Diplomatic pressure to make Russia come to the negotiating table in a sincere manner.

1. Opec (led by Saudi Arabia) will not allow this to happen... as much to protect their own position in the oil market but also... well, while circumstances are currently placing Saudi Arabia on the opposite "side" from Russia, no non-democratic regime wants to find itself as the last one standing, so they have thrown the lifeline seemingly for no reason already.

2. The entire West needs to shift to a Wartime Economy... to defeat Russia in the short term and China in the long term.

3. Non-Applicable

How much increase in production by the US would it take to crash the price of oil?

enough to make OPEC's output irrelevant... but enough to also get around the fact that crashing the price of oil makes a lot of American production uneconomical?

Viktor Bout is a Russian businessman who was convicted in the United States in April 2012 on charges of illegal arms trafficking in Africa and the Middle East, as well as supporting terrorism and conspiracy to murder United States citizens. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

In December 2022, the U.S. authorities exchanged Bout for basketball player Brittney Griner, who was detained at the Moscow airport with hash oil vape cartridges and convicted of drug smuggling.

It is interesting that among the exhibits there is a T-shirt of basketball player Brittney Griner, which was given to Bout by the warden of the prison where the American athlete was imprisoned.

Agreed and well said. Trump was such a Russian ally that Putin waited for him to lose office before he invaded.

Or did Putin think Trump would win re-election and pull the US out of NATO... but that didn't work out.

Putin will never engage in peace talks. Never... it would be admitting that he cannot outright defeat Ukraine, and that he is no match for the West, either or both of which then starts a domino effect with the other countries in Russia's sphere of influence (a lot of whom are chomping at the bit to get away from them) and other regions within Russia...

He is stuck in Ukraine. He has made it an existential battle for himself.

Colt Range literally cuts and pastes them here complete with photos and professional graphics.

He has the bomb damage assessment data to push the Kremlin narrative within hours of the event.

He doesn't even try to disguse it or soft pedal it or anything

In Spring of 2022 I asked a retired A-10 squadron commander about their use. He said that likely find experienced mercenary pilots from the USAF shouldn't be a problem. The issue with retired pilots is slowing of reflexes with the aging process. These would still be better trained pilots thn Russia has to offer as of now.
