Doesn’t seem valid to me. You aren’t entitled to a job just because you interview for it. As far as interviewing to qualify for the Rooney Rule, that’s exactly why the rule is in place. As long as that ridiculous rule is in place, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

I agree, it’s a stupid rule. But they should have been smarter about discussing their decisions before having the Rooney interviews. Really stupid decision. That’s why he has a case.

Its also a misunderstanding of the issue. To get into coaching in either college or the pros, anyone who doesn't have extensive NFL experience has to basically volunteer for several years before getting a paid position. White people on average are much more likely to have the support system to allow them to take the unpaid job for a little bit. I am not trying to get into an argument for why this is the case, I don't really care who is to blame for it, and I honestly don't care what the solution is.

TLDR: we have more white coaches because A) coaching doesn't take athleticism, B) There are just more white people in the USA, and C) White people are more likely to be able to go through the "intern" process of being a coach.

They had already interviewed their DC before they interviewed Flores and before they hired Daboll, he wasn't a Rooney Rule interview.

This is where I was too.

The Rooney rule was an attempt to increase the incidents of minorities in the hiring process.

It wasn't a guarantee of being hired. And, a situation where a team found the guy they liked before the minority was interviewed shouldn't be viewed as a negative.

This is the world we live in. We have a president who decided he was going to nominate a USSC Justice based on skin color and gender.

I can't support Flores and won't support the Saints if they hired him.

Flores is outrageously overrated, and now seems like trouble outside the locker room as well.

Probably file an addendum to the lawsuit to include the Saints if passed over

That is why you tell them immediately that there will be no interview while any pending litigation is going on. Why even open yourself up to be accused of something. This dude just made himself toxic, career suicide.

Based on what? The Rooney Rule was intended to give these guys a chance to interview...get known in these hiring circles even if it's for another job down the road..

There's no Rooney rule law. And, there is nothing sinister about a team finding the guy they want before they finish hiring.

Internal interviews don’t count towards the Rooney rule

Ok, well they also interviewed Leslie Frazier, DC from Buffalo, before Flores as well

Goodell will call Gayle and offer a deal.

"Hire Flores and I'll finally stop fricking with you."

Gayle: "You said you'd stop when Sean left!"

Goodell:

Based on the fact that clearly his interview was ONLY there to satisfy the rule. That is certainly in violation of the spirit of the rule (even if teams do it all the time - this information doesn’t get out, especially directly to the candidate).

I’m not saying he is in the right morally. I’m saying he has a case. Which he does.

The lawsuit includes private texts from Bill Belichick where he congratulated Flores for getting the New York Giants job before Flores had even interviewed... because Belichick got Brian Flores and Brian Daboll confused, and apparently the Giants interviewed Flores knowing they were already hiring Daboll. Flores also alleges that Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, offered to pay him $100,000 for every loss during the 2019 season to help the team get a better draft spot. And he alleges that the head brass of the Denver Broncos showed up hungover to his 2019 interview, which was a sham just to satisfy the Rooney Rule before the Broncos hired Vic Fangio

I'm sure Louisiana was already eliminated from his desirable jobs
Not only is the Saints run like a plantation, the state actually has reminders of that era
At the end of the day, the owner of the team can hire whoever he wants, it's his team

Do like Michael Jordan or Derek Jeter, go buy your own team and make any decisions you want
I'm sure Lebron will eventually own a team down the line as well

I think Flores just lost every potential job in the NFL. He is done coaching in the NFL.

Never said it was because they are white. Just said it was a fact, which it is. There are tons of reasons why this is the case and none of them are because of the skin color. Doesn't mean that the disparity doesn't exist.

Cant get more on brand than hiring a guy suing the NFL.

Him having issues with the league would on paper make him.the perfect fit lol
