Newsflash: in less than 50 years, you’ll be just as poor because you’ll be dead.

This thread reminds me of growing up pre-debit cards. Mom or dad would hand you a ten to fill up the tank and they’d stay in the car.

Nothing would make a parent more irrationally angry than you accidentally going over, like $10.13, and having to knock on the window for them to find change or give you another dollar.

If I’m standing in a line I can predict with 85% certainly who will hold up the line at a Circle K. I know part of it is that they need smokes and lottery tickets but that’s only the beginning.

For some reason they end up doing like 3 separate transactions. I waited almost 5 minutes for a guy to finish last night and all I got was a 44 oz Dr Pepper.

The trashiest part of this story is the underlined part.

And don’t forget the $5 worth of gas (prepaid). The first $4 worth pumps in 30 seconds then the last $1 worth takes 5 minutes to pump.

Pulls up to the pump, walks inside and gives the cashier $3 for gas. Then proceeds to buy 5 different lottery tickets. Then a cigar to make into a blunt. Then some fire Cheetos and a grape soda. Then tries to flirt with the black girl cashier. All the while his car is blocking a pump for 1 gallon of gas. ?

You forgot the part where they leave the car running with the windows down at the pump with some God awful mumble rap blaring for the 10 minutes they're at the register completing this transaction.

Lottery, Alchohol, and tobacco they pay for with cash and usually getting something for someone else also on a different transaction.

Then food and non-alchohol they pay for with EBT.

Then if there’s enough left over they get $5 on pump 2.

I wouldn’t limit this to just poor people. I think it’s more of a mental capacity/lack of self awareness issue. There’s plenty of people from all economic classes that have absolutely zero self awareness.

It’s also why Louisiana is #50 in service at fast food joints. Our state’s collective IQ is very low, and continues to drop. And as that segment of the population grows, so does their influence on elections, which gives us political superstars like the mayors of our 3 largest cities and our despot Governor.

Most of us pay at the pump.

Get a bank account and a debit card and you won't have to join the poor in going inside to pay for your $6 worth of gas.
