Turkey necks rice and gravy is great stuff. My grandmother whom passed away 2 years ago always made that and white beans. Was a hell of a meal.

She’s about to leave you for a brother, just testing her gravy on you.

I love turkey necks. Momma would cook up some on occasion. We were a large family of kids. Wasn't much (if anything) that momma put before us that we didn't eat. Including turkey necks. We did pork,chicken/duck/turkey, beef, and mutton. Wild game was a special treat. No coon etc. Just the big six. Momma bought flour, coffee, and sugar. We grew everything else, including the turkey. Fond memories.
Hmmm? Might have to revisit that turkey neck gumbo right soon.

Guys I worked with used to order them all the time. I've never had them, but they loved them. Seemed like it took a little effort to eat, though. Lots of bone and cartilage. Just didn't seem appetizing to me.

Sometimes at the store you can find a pack of smoked Turkey tails.
Buy them. You’re welcome.

This sounds like a cheating sex euphemism.

I LOVE turkey necks. But the ones in the OP I’ll pass on. Don’t know if it’s the preparation or what, but those don’t look too appetizing.

My dinner tonight was freshly smoked turkey necks and hearts (the rest is going in tomorrow's gumbo) and a couple links of leftover boudin. The fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed.
I'm glad to hear others appreciate the finer things in life. Thanks for this thread.

The best oxtail I ever had were at a Chinese restaurant. I was surprised, didn't know they were into oxtail.

You realize that smothered Turkey necks and gravy were poor white food before they were “soul food” (a term that came around after the great migration where blacks took southern cuisine up north with them), Right?
No idea which group of poors ate them first. But I suspect that the majority of turkey necks these days are consumed by the minority population. I have to got to the minority grocery store to find them, which is a strong clue.

My mind totally went to another place when I read this. You’re wife was smothering turkey necks with gravy over her white face.

I’ve only ever used them for catching crabs, which is ironic considering I actually caught crabs from your wife.
But I’m definitely not above trying them [insert another wife sex joke possibly?].

When I think of turkey necks the only ones I can picture are the ones they boil in water in the hood convience stores. I'm gonna have to pass
