We need this dude back here either as DB coach or as an analyst. DB play will be the Achilles heel of the defense for the next 2 years. Let's get the guy who was here for the golden years of CB and Safety play for the Tigers.

Yeah, we definitely need a guy on staff that knows how to falsify expense reports to cover for not recruiting on the road.

Let's bring that back.

Coop really got the DBU moniker going. It became a nationwide thing under his tenure. Dude was a badass coach and recruiter.

But the game has changed. It’s passed him by.

He currently coaches at Long Island U. I don’t think this dude is the savior some of yall think he is. Remember how bringing back Pelini worked?

Quit living in the past and trying to revive guys from over a decade ago. Get some fresh blood in.

Until he got lazy and starting offering schollies to kids he had never seen before. There is a reason he isn't around anymore.

Coach, yes. Recruiter? I remember things differently in that department.

He got us.

Loston
Claiborne
Mathieu
Reid
Eugene

I’d say that’s pretty stout.

Look at his coaching history. In 40 years of coaching he hasn’t stayed anywhere longer than 3 years. He has only done that 3 times. Since he left LSU in 2011 he has had 10 jobs. No thanks.

I will credit him Reid, but that’s the only player you listed that he was lead recruiter for

What is this boards infatuation with ex coaches. There is a whole world of coaches out there not named Raymond or Cooper.

to be fair...raymond had success his whole tenure here. he is loved in admin here, loved with the HS coaches here and texas and makes a ton of sense.

cooper doesnt.

i do agree about ex coaches but there is nothing wrong with bringing back cocahes that had a tons of success here.

Fine, but why did that success not follow him? That is my biggest issue. I dont mind Raymond, but also know that Baker or whoever ultimately needs his guys around...it will expedite our transition.

i agree on cooper

and as far as raymond goes...the recruiting success did follow him. He didnt get a long with napier

cooper...because he sucks at recruiting. always did. he didnt bring in the 2011 guys, frank did.

thats not really how it works. dunno why this keeps getting repeated. DC doesnt pick his staff. sure may have input but he doesnt pick it.

True. But he had some influence no doubt. They came knowing he would be their coach.

Coop was an eval guy. He was to the defense what Ensminger was to the offense in that department.
