Sounds like we don’t want to pay his buyout and we have to rely on a NFL team hiring him as our only hope to get him out of here.

If we keep him, we stand to lose way more than that.

That's the remainder of his contract (i'm assuming), and he's not being fired (hypothetically) for cause.

Either House is waiting for a NFL job to open up, or he's getting fired.

I can't imagine BK not being aware of the fact that if he's retained, there will be serious fan revolt.

Heisman winning QB in a historically excellent offense, all for nothing with that shitty defense.

Then dont fire him but take away his credentials and tell him not to show up anymore. Tell Pete Jenkins to run the defense for the next two years. Can't be any worse.

How’s that possible when he’s only got another year left on his contract? (I think.)

If it's true the players don't even like him, I'm not sure you have a choice. Not saying the players have last say, but there will be big issues if he stays because the players don't believe in his defense.

I think he signed an extension through 2025 back in April

This is a tremendous amount of money, but honestly, LSU has it to spend. House will not be retained because LSU can’t afford to fire him.

What I don’t understand is a few weeks ago Brian Kelly said he had his exit meetings with all the players after the end of the regular season. Did not all the defensive players not tell Kelly that I will come back but I can’t play for Matt House another season. Kelly has to know that right?

I think you're right because Charlie Hannagriff has been complaining about it for most of the year. Hanny wasn't happy with extending a guy after his 2022 performance down the stretch, much less now that we've seen his 2023 defense.

Really though? Isn't dwindling attendance numbers an issue across sports in general? Newer generation doesn't care about sportsball as much.

Wouldn't his buyout be offset by whatever amount he gets at his next coaching gig?

Why is it that much if he only has 1 year left?

House contract
His contract runs through January 15, 2026. His base salary is $400k. His supplemental salary for next season is $1.6 Million and $1.7 Million for the season after that. If fired without cause, LSU owes him 90% of that.

So 90% of that means that LSU owes him 3,690,000 minus his salary at the next job.

Why do people believe that coaches and players give a shite about a fan’s take on how to coach or who to hire?

And yes I want him gone as well.

He received an extension after the 2022 season and a raise from 1.9 to 2.1 million per year.

LSU has the money to shitcan him. The new ESPN deal goes into effect this year. Each school is going to get $55 million per year. That’s about 15 million more than 2023 under the old deal.
