Shaara has been one of my favorite authors for a while. Just finished his quasi-biography/quasi-novel about Teddy Roosevelt.
Quite a departure from his normal war stories, it was an interesting read and a unique way to tell the story. The book is broken into five parts, and each one covers some (but not all) of his 1) youth; 2) time in the Dakota territory; 3) Cuba; 4) presidency; and 5) post White House life.
A good read, and a great introduction to TR, but nowhere near Shaara's best. I think my biggest disappointment is that Shaara has fallen victim to the new AP writing style where he capitalizes Black when talking about race.

He probably has no choice in the matter if he wants his book published.
